Eagle Crest Family Newsletter
September 23, 2021
Principal Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
I want to share a huge thank you to our PTO and everyone who helped organize and pull off our first ever Eagle Crest Family Picnic last Friday. The weather was perfect and the company was even better. ;-) It was great to see so many families and community members enjoying time together and reconnecting with each other as we enter this new school year.
Something really exciting this week has been the energy surrounding our school library. I always say that the library is the heart of a thriving school, and that is certainly true here at Eagle Crest. Ms. Beckett reports that the library has been bustling each morning during “open library” time and I wanted to share with families that all students are welcome to check out and exchange books even when it is not a regularly scheduled library classroom visit. It fills my heart to see so many kids accessing books and diving into reading. Check out some pictures of our wonderful readers below.
I hope you have a great weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

Family Teacher Conferences
We are ready to start signing families up for conferences! Families will have the choice of virtual or in person conferences this year. Teachers will be sending the sign-up link and more information in their weekly newsletters!
Here is a guide on how to make and appointment and how to use the online virtual system!
Conference Meal Sign Ups
ECES PTO is trying a new approach to conference meals this fall in an effort to provide dinner at a time that works best for teacher/staff schedules and dietary needs/preferences. We are asking families to sign-up to purchase and drop off a teacher or staff meal from a local restaurant during the three nights. Teachers/staff have already filled out a form with their desired meal order.
1) Click on your grade level sign up below.
2) Find your teacher's name and sign up for a slot.
3) Once you have signed up, you will receive an email with your teacher's order, desired delivery time and which door to drop it off at school.
4) If your child's teacher has all of their meals covered, please sign up to cover additional meals for staff who also work those evenings.
If you have questions, please contact Conference Meal Coordinator Kaylee Baker at kaylee.m.baker@gmail.com. Thank you for helping us show some individual appreciation for our hard working teachers and staff!

100 Mile Club (NEW!)
It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce the return of our in-person 100 Mile Club during the 2021-2022 school year. 100 Mile Club is a long standing tradition at ECES and it is a great opportunity for your students to improve their health awareness, social well-being, and build self-confidence as they reach goals along the way.
All students in grades K-5 are invited and encouraged to participate. Over the course of the school year we will be running laps each day, in order to reach the big goal of completing 100 miles! Students in grades K-1 must be accompanied by an adult, but all families are welcome to join us. In fact, in the past many families have shared that this has been a great opportunity to connect with others and make friends in the community. We would also love to have some extra parent volunteers each morning to help us help the students track their laps/miles.
As students reach milestones along the way they will be awarded with incentives. At the completion of the first 25 miles, your student will receive a 100 Mile Club t-shirt. Once your student reaches 50 miles they will receive a pencil. Upon reaching 75 miles, your student earns a wristband. Finally, when your child reaches 100 miles, they will be awarded a ver special 100 Mile Club medal.
The registration cost for 100 Mile Club is $20 per runner this year. We have switched over to the ONLINE ONLY registrations again this year. As part of the online registration you will pay through Revtrak using the link below. All students must register online before arriving to 100 Mile Club in the morning.
Eagle Crest 100 MIle Club Registration
We will begin 100 Mile Club this year starting on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. It will run until April 29th, 2022. Students can attend 1, 2, or all three days each week. It's up to you! The days and times we will run are listed below:
Tuesdays – 7:45-8:15 AM
Wednesdays – 7:45-8:15 AM
Thursdays – 7:35-8:15 AM
In the event of inclement weather (heavy rain, snow on the track, our temperature less than 20℉), we will do our best to notify families by text message and post a cancellation on our website by 7:00AM.
Square State Skate Experience
For the past two weeks, Eagle Crest's 3rd, 4th and 5th graders have been buckling up helmets, checking over their boards and pushing (regular or goofy) ahead with Square State Skate.
SSS is a Boulder-based company specializing in skateboarding instruction. Led by owner Brian Ball and lead instructor David Biddle, Square State Skate has introduced the art of skateboarding to over 200 extremely eager Eagle Crest 3rd-5th graders.
For all involved, learning to skateboard is as much social-emotional development as physical skill training. Character traits such as perseverance, growth mindset, flexibility and supporting others are highlighted and used each and every skateboarding session. Additionally, students learn skatepark etiquette, numerous tricks, vocabulary and problem solving techniques that seamlessly transfer to other areas of life, both athletically and academically.
Having such a powerful program visit Eagle Crest could not have been possible without the support of Eagle Crest's PTO, staff, students and parents/guardians! A huge thank you to all involved and let's keep the good times rolling!
