Student- Seth Cooley
Teacher- Debbie Wellslager
"Seth exemplifies all three of the R's. He is dependable, completes his assignments, does his best work, inquires about what more he can learn and understand about topics. He is on time, and in class. He is respectful and respectable; students ask him for his ideas on school assignments; he is always on task, polite and thoughtful. Seth is also reputable. He is calm and always in charge of his responsibilities. I wonder if it has ever occurred to him not to just 'do the next right thing'. Seth is a student of whom I expect extremely good things in the future."
Student- Anika Roldan
Teacher- Ally McWilliams
"Anika is a wonderful friend and classmate to her peers. She is very polite and likes to interact with her teachers as well. She is passionate about her interests and likes to share her knowledge with others."
Student- Kisura Williams
Teacher- Judy McDermott
"She is always polite to others and is a joy to be around."

Magnet Information
Applications to IHS's *This Is Escolares* open now through January 9
Why apply? Because you want an interdisciplinary, rigorous, unique approach to learning for your academically-motivated teen.
Access the application here: https://d5choiceapp.com/login
This Is Escolares:
IHS’s *This Is Escolares* is a selective magnet program for academically motivated and gifted 9th and 10th grade students. Continuing the tradition of excellence in the Escolares elementary and middle school programs in School District Five, IHS’s *This Is Escolares* offers an interdisciplinary approach to learning. This academic program then leads to admission in the student’s choice of one of Irmo High School’s International Baccalaureate programmes.
IB Career-related Programme:
The IB Career-related Programme is a synergistic collaboration between Irmo High School and The Center for Advanced Technical Studies. In the IB Career-related Programme, 11th and 12th grade students have the opportunity to focus their studies on a selected career field while taking two or more core IB core courses, thus connecting students to skills needed in the global economy and providing authentic learning opportunities.
IB Diploma Programme:
The IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous, US- and internationally-recognized, comprehensive, interdisciplinary 2-year course of study in the 11th and 12th grades at Irmo High School. Diploma Programme students engage deeply with the academic material, reflect on their own learning processes, conduct inquiry-based research, write an extended essay on a topic of their choice with support from an advisor, and are involved in a wide range of extracurricular activities and community service through creativity, action, and service.
The aim of an IB education is to develop internationally minded people who strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective, and these IB traits unify the IB students’ courses. IB students are well prepared for college coursework, and IB courses may result in college credit similar to AP.
