Progress Challenge

This week, students will be competing in our second Progress Challenge, focusing on PRIDE (prepared, respect, inclusive, determined and engaged) in the classroom. Our goal is to reinforce positive behavior in the classroom.

Staff will give our PRIDE QR codes selectively, recognizing students effort to create a positive respectful classroom culture. Teams with the most PQRs will win the Progress Challenge and receive the team trophy and treat!

Our goal is to continue to focus on the positive behaviors we expect from students: being prepared and ready for class, respecting the teacher, classroom rules, raising their hands, staying in their seats, speaking nicely to others, including others, being collaborative and supporting all people and their ideas, being determined to do their best, trying and asking questions, using class time wisely and caring about their learning, engaged in the lesson, using the class time to learn and attempt the lesson and activities created.

More than ever, we can use the support of our families to reinforce these behaviors. Our staff attempts to create engaging lessons that meet students' needs and learning. This can be distracting if students do not attempt to show PRIDE. thank you for reviewing these expectations with your students and supporting our classrooms.

SMS Hosts Unified Sports

SMS hosted its first Unified Sports Basketball game this Friday, welcoming schools: Westlake, Clara Westropp and Albert Einstein (North Olmsted). Our students had ag reat time interacting with other students and our student section was energetic and supportive! Our students and staff received many compliments regarding the event and support. Thank you to all for their effort in planning this event!
