Night-Night...Or Not
Babies, Toddlers, and Sleep
Bed Time
This is essential, set a bed time and stick with it. This should be done as early as 3 months, toddlers need at least 8-10 hours of sleep at night as well as a nap during the day. Babies on the other hand will take several naps during the day and sleep 6-8 hours during the night. Remember this does not happen "over night" it takes time and more time to develop a good pattern and bed time routine.
Sleeping Patterns and Routines
It is very easy for parents to take the easy way out when it comes to their infants going sleep. We should steer away from the "feeding to Sleep", this is were a parent will feed their baby until he or she falls asleep and then lay them down in the crib. Parents need to remember to separate feeding time from bed time. It is very important for parents to let their baby fall asleep on its own, this does NOT mean making your child cry and scream its ways to sleep.
The Road to Success
Step one: 3 months, feed your baby then change dipper and clothes.
Step two: Lay in crib with very dim lights, play soft music or use a mobile.
Step three: Repeat step one and two every night, if your baby cries a little that is alright, do NOT let your baby cry cry cry itself to sleep.
