Virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences
Godwin Heights High School will conduct Virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, March 31 from 5-8pm and Thursday, April 1 from 12:35-3:30pm.
Conferences are an opportunity for parents and guardians to meet with teachers to discuss how students are doing in class and areas they can work on to improve. In order to get as many conferences in as possible, we ask that you keep each meeting to 5 minutes.
Recommended: Parents and students attend the virtual conferences together using student chromebook.
Parents may choose to join using their student’s Godwin email credentials or may access the Google Meet link from their own account.
Please click on the linked document here to schedule conferences with your student’s teacher.
In the linked document above, find your student’s teacher for each hour. Click on their name to access the scheduling form to select a day and time to meet with your teacher. All conferences must be scheduled by the end of the day on Tuesday, March 30.
On Wednesday, March 31st, the meeting links will be sent out. The meeting links will be linked to the teacher's name. Simply, click on the teacher’s name when it is your scheduled time.
Due to the tight timelines for each meeting, there might not be enough time slots for every parent to schedule a conference time. If you are unable to schedule a time slot or make conferences and you would still like to talk with your student’s teachers, please reach out by email or phone. Students’ counselors will also be available if you would like to talk with them during this time.
If parents prefer to call and talk to a teacher in regards to their student progress instead of attending a virtual conference, please feel free to call our teachers anytime during the conference times listed above. Please refer to the bottom of this document where we have conveniently located all the phone numbers for all High School Teachers.
Thanks for your patience with this new process of parent/teacher conferences.
Spirit Week - March 29 - April 1
Youth Employment Initative
The Youth Employment Initiative provides teens and young adults, ages 14-24, living in Grand Rapids with the opportunity to participate in programming that supports career exploration and a paid internship in an area of interest with a local employer. Participants receive training to develop skills in resume writing, preparing for interviews, and applying for jobs as well as to develop knowledge about workplace etiquette, sexual harassment, and safety protocol, among other topics. Services are provided to eliminate barriers to employment, including securing work permits and to support participants to obtain employment upon completion of the program. Three cohorts (fall, winter, and spring/summer) of the 6-week program are offered each year.
Tutoring
As a way to support our students who might need to catch up on work to earn class credits, we will be providing free after school tutoring with Godwin teachers.
Tutoring will take place:
Mondays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:15pm starting March 11, 2021 until the end of the school year (for both in person and virtual learners)
If you would like to enroll your child or if you have any questions, please contact bobbijo.kenyon@godwinschools.org or katie.hoffman@godwinschools.org
