WorkKeys Review
Seniors who have completed a pathway in CTE will take a practice WorkKeys exam during 2nd period on Monday, February 5. Students will be called to the cafeteria at the beginning of 2nd period.
Mrs. Barclift, Mrs. Schmuck, and Mr. Cuthrell will also conduct a targeted review session based on the pretest during 2nd period on Wednesday, February 7. Because the review is based based on pretest results, not every student who took the pretest will take part in the review. They will also conduct a final review session during Bruin Success on Monday, February 12.
Bruin Success
We will run the traditional bell schedule (with no Bruin Success) for the first two weeks of the new semester. We will begin the Bruin Success schedule on February 12th.
School Year Calendar Changes
A list of calendar changes for the 2017-2018 school year has been approved by the Board of Education. Here are some of the highlights.
February 9th-Now a full day
February 19th-Now a school day
March 9th-Now a full day
March 30th-Now a school day/End of 3rd nine-weeks grading period
April 11th-Report Cards
Graduation
We have finalized the plan for graduation for the Class of 2018. We will hold graduation on the football field on Friday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m.
Field Trips
Field trips were a topic of discussion at the School Improvement Team meeting earlier this year. The team decided that April 27th would be the cut off date for second semester field trips. This will allow us to maximize instructional time without interruptions before exams. It was also decided that we will use a standard field trip permission slip beginning second semester. The permission slip will be signed by the parent and the teachers of each student.
Athletic Gate Duty
The athletic duty sign up sheets have been placed in the Staff Canvas page. If you need to change a duty, please let me or Coach Harnly know. Thanks for your help with this!
EVAAS
You may have noticed that EVAAS has now been added to the NC Ed Could. All of your growth information for the 2016-2017 school year has now been updated. This information can be very useful. We sent a teacher from each of your departments to the EVAAS training last week. They will share information at your next department meeting. In the meantime, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
