Alex Moore
Music Education Major, Spanish Minor
I am from Washington Court House, Ohio. A small rural community about an hour south of Columbus, Ohio. I went to Miami Trace High School, where I was guided by some very awesome music teachers!
Saxophone
I began playing the Alto Saxophone in the fifth grade, when my love for instrumental music started. I was so excited for sixth grade band that I taught myself the basics of saxophone a year earlier. I didn't realized it would change my whole life.

Instrumental Music
As my love for instrumental music grew, so did my desire to learn about more instruments. I taught myself to play piano, followed by flute, piccolo, clarinet, french horn, oboe, percussion, and recorder. After working hard to learn those instruments I was allowed to play oboe in my schools concert band, and I had a recorder and piccolo solo in symphonic band. The song was "And the Antelope Play..." by John Carnahan. It's a great song, you should listen to it in the link below! I was also allowed to play french horn in pep band. Finally, I had the most wonderful performance opportunity of my life: I was asked to play some solo selections for a school function, and for that I recorded my own accompaniment on a Clavinova and played my saxophone to the accompaniment. It was a great experience!

My first experience playing oboe, with my band director saying, "Oh my, someone burn that oboe."
Teaching
Ever since I was young I have wanted to be a teacher. My plans have never changed. My high school band director helped me to realized that teaching music is amazing. He inspired me in so many different ways. He even drove me to BW for my first visit. He's my biggest supporter. I have had teaching experiences with marching band students, tutoring Spanish students, helping other students (including choral students) prepare for OMEA Solo and Ensemble events, as well as being the leader of a wonderful section of saxophones in symphonic band in high school. Many have told me that I'm going into a bad job market, and that I'm not going to make a lot of money. I don't care though, this is what I want for my life. Money is not the important part of teaching music.
My quartet and I from last year after winning a local talent show by playing Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen for saxophone quartet.

La Música !
Me encanta español. Me gustaría enseñar música en España durante el verano despues de graduarme.
"I love Spanish! I would like to teach music in Spain during the summer after graduation." I have always been interested in other languages. Just like the language of music. I think that learning more languages helps you learn more about your own language.

Equine
I have been raising, showing, and training horses since I was about 10 years old. I have broken 3 bones. My most recent being my right wrist in May of 2011. I have taken a break from training because I don't want to hurt myself permanently and ruin my future. However next summer I plan on returning to the show circuit, no more training though.

I'm super easy to get along with, and I love to listen. I want to help in any way that I can. If you need anything, just ask. My contact info is listed below.
