Home Design of the Future.

Going Greeen

My future home would be in a a hot tropical place like Florida (wetland). To make my house a green environment i would try to minimize my energy consumption by doing simple things like turning off the light when I'm not in a certain room or like having LED lights.
i would have native plants grow around my home like the Swamp Sunflower,Needle Palm and Scrub Palmetto.
  • Swamp sunflower grows in moist, sunny or partly shady locations throughout much of the eastern U.S. It grows in swamps, wet pinelands, coastal salt marshes and moist disturbed sites and is often common along roadside ditches and fence lines.
  • The needle palm is a terribly talented plant that is beautiful, rugged, extremely cold hardy, fast growing and one of my landscape favorites grows to about 6 ft (1.8 m) in height.
  • Sabal etonia is a fan palm with a solitary stem that is usually subterranean but is sometimes above ground and up to 2 metres (6.6 ft) tall.

My Garden

Since Florida is known to be one of the citrus capitals there no doubt that i will be grow crops like bananas , grapes , oranges and pineapples. i will not be needing to grow my crops with the influence of fertilizers because 1. fertilizers are not the healthiest solution for the environment and 2.One popular fertilizer, urea, produces ammonia emanation, contributes to acid rain, groundwater contamination and ozone depletion due to release of nitrous oxide by denitrification process.

Vroom Vroom

For my choice of vehicle i would most likely have a Nissan LEAF as a mode of transportation because it does not run on gas but on an advanced rechargeable lithium-ion battery meaning that its an eco friendly car. The Nissan LEAF get the equivalent of 1.9 liters per 100 kilometers. The 24kWh lithium-ion battery stores its energy to power the 80kW AC motor in 48 lithium-ion battery cells and provides enough power to the motor to generate 187 lb-ft of torque off the line, and 107 horsepower. This proves that the Nissan LEAF is not only environmental friendly but its also very efficient. But a bike is probably my number one option IF I'm only traveling to a nearby place.

Waste Management

Instead of using regular waste bins in my future home, I plan on disposing waste properly with recycling and composting to help better separate waste and preserve the life of the earth.

in the future in will sponsor the chicken turtle at our local zoo. i choose to sponsor this amphibian because its a native animal in Florida and this animal is currently in the stage of special concern and its population is still steadily decreasing. this turtle is famous for its flavor mimicking the taste of your average chicken hence inheriting its name the chicken turtle. this turtle is also very small averaging the size smaller than human hands

Hazardous chemicals

my future home will contain three toxic chemicals to animals and humans, however, most of these chemicals will be in products I use daily.
  • carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that is slightly less dense than air. It is toxic to humans when encountered in concentrations, although it is also produced in normal animal metabolism in low quantities, and is thought to have some normal biological functions. In the atmosphere, it is spatially variable and short lived, having a role in the formation of ground-level ozone.
  • Air fresheners and cleaning solutions when used excessively can release toxic levels of pollutants. Chemicals used in this type of product are ethylene-based glycol ethers and terpenes.

  • Non-stick cookware like Teflon contain perchloroethylene which scientist believe cause birth defects and cancer and can affect growth and development, reproduction, and function of the liver.

the chemical contained in hair and body products- Phthalates come from Phthalic Acid. Phthalic Acid consists of 8 atoms of Carbon, 6 Hydrogen atoms and 2 Oxygen atoms.

Oxygen is foundin the second period (8), hydrogen is located the first of the Alkali Metals and Carbon is also found in the second period (6

The outsiders

carbon and oxygen are both non metals but hydrogen is a potential of both

The Sun

since Florida has alot of sunlight the energy of my house will be mainly be powered through solar panels. Light rays are captured by photovoltaic and semiconductors. these light rays are going to be converted to electric and thermal energy to power my house.

Appliances of the future

I would choose the essential appliances for my home.

  • Stove/oven

  • washing machine
  • Refrigerator

  • computor
  • television

i chose these appliances because a t.v. and a computer are for leisure activities and stove fridge washing machines are simply appliances that i will need to use in my daily life. also, when choosing these appliances, I would be sure to look for an EnerGuide label or follow the EnergyStar program to conserve energy.

Let there be light!

In my future home, I would use Flood Reflector LED light bulbs because these light bulbs are 90% more efficient than an incandescent and last longer than regular light bulbs. Meaning that i will have to change my light bulbs less frequent meaning ill save both more money and energy.

Thank You NASA

insulation: Home insulation started of as a protection for spacecrafts in space so that their spacecrafts wouldn't get radiation and now its with us helping us save money and energy for cooling/heating our houses.
Water Filters: NASA actually were the pioneers of these beauties they used it to kill and sanitize drinking water going to space.
