High School Busing Request
Amherst Exempted Village Schools is happy to announce that high school busing will commence for the 2019-2020 school year! If you have one or more high school students at Steele next year and are interested in high school transportation, please complete the Request for Transportation form for EACH child.
Meningitis Vaccine Requirement for 12th Grade Entry
The Ohio Health Department, under Ohio Revised Code 3701.13 and 3313.671, requires all students entering the 12th grade to provide written proof that they have received a dose of the Meningococcal (meningitis) vaccine after age 16.
Parents/Guardians were mailed a letter in April with more information on this requirement. Please ensure the school has proof of your child’s vaccine on file by the 14th day of school. Students without proof of the meningitis vaccine may be subject to exclusion from school.
New Online Yearly Registration
Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, the Amherst Schools will utilize a new online student enrollment/registration/data validation system called PowerSchool Enrollment. The system will allow parents to enter all student demographic, emergency, and medical information directly into PowerSchool at the beginning of each school year! In short, PowerSchool Enrollment replaces the hard copy blue cards and emergency medical cards that we ask parents to fill out each year.
PowerSchool Enrollment will also allow parents to make updates (new phone numbers, emails, etc.) and changes throughout the school year through their PowerSchool Parent Portal account. Family changes will automatically update to ALL children in the family!
If you already have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, then you'll be ready for PowerSchool Enrollment in August when it comes time to update your student information! Just make sure you have all of your children linked to your Parent Portal account and can access it from home. If you've forgotten your password, please contact the school office or district board office.
If you DO NOT have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, then you need to create one ASAP! The district sent home letters with student access identifications and numbers to ALL students without a current Parent Portal account attached to them. Junior high and high school students received letters to take home.
Look for more information in August when we are preparing for the 2019-2020 school year. Until then, set up those PowerSchool Parent Portal accounts and have a safe and happy summer!
