This week in Unit we continued to learn about US symbols and geography. The main goal was for them to understand that our home is in our city, our city is in our state, our state is in our country, our country is on our continent and our continent is part of our planet, Earth. They had a lot of fun each day learning some interesting facts about each part and we made a little flip book as a visual that was sent home Friday. See what they remember about the unit! I am so excited to be moving on to my favorite unit of the year--Animal Kingdoms!!! We will begin this week by introducing the animal kingdoms and then move into making a book about lots of different animals that will be sent home in a couple of weeks. We will close out the unit with our Field Trip to the San Antonio Zoo!

In writing this week we continued to work on our Color and Number books. Some children have ventured off and started making other books about all sorts of things they know about. It is so cute to watch them share their stories with one another and the class. We have a class full of little authors! I am so proud!

In Math, we continued on with our Composing and Decomposing unit. We decomposed the numbers 6-7 this week and played a lot of fun games to reinforce the concept. We are anxiously awaiting the 100th day of school!!! We have been counting up every day and they know we only have 3 more days. The anticipation is exciting! It's one of my favorite days of the year. We are still in need of a couple of items for our 100th Day Trail Mix if you would like to donate here is the link. :) Items need to be sent in by the morning of on Wednesday, February 3. THANK YOU! Don't forget their poster is due that day too!
