The Walden Weekly

School News You Can Use - Sept. 16, 2022

Dear Walden Families,

We were all smiles this week at Walden School for our picture day! If your child was absent, our retakes will take place on Thursday, November 10th.

Students celebrated Positive Thinking Day this past Wednesday and learned about the power of a positive mindset. There were some discussions about how thinking positively about a difficult situation can give us the grit we need to get through it. Feel free to chat about this at home since we know that the power of positive thinking is strong!

Have a great weekend!

A Note from Our Philanthropy Team

Hi Walden Families! We are getting ready for an upcoming book drive and we are looking for bin donations to help with the collection. These bins preferably would have a lid to help with stacking. If you are able to donate, please leave them in a stack in the foyer. Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Emergency Contacts (2nd Posting)

Our Walden staff are only permitted to release students to parents/guardians and emergency contacts. Please make sure that your emergency contact list is updated in Family Access to ensure a smooth dismissal for students.

Inclusive Practices at Walden (2nd Posting)

Walden is proud to celebrate our many cultures, holidays, and traditions. Each morning your child watches morning announcements at Walden, and we would love to feature YOU in an upcoming announcement video! If you are interested in sharing a short video clip, presentation, or artifacts to help our students and staff learn more about your family's heritage and customs, click here. Those that are interested in participating will hear from our Inclusive Practices leadership committee in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please contact Alexa Montgomery at amontgomery@dps109.org or Lindsey Summers at lsummers@dps109.org.

PPS 109 Event on 10/25

We are excited this school year to return to offering in-person parent/guardian networking and educational opportunities for our community in collaboration with PPS109.

Our first event of the ‘22-’23 school year will be An Overview of District 109 Student Services. This event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 6 pm at the District Office.

We are also asking for your help! Please click here to help us prioritize the next community event that will be offered during this school year. There is also an option on the form to let us know if you are interested in participating in PPS109 parent/guardian networking opportunities.
