CHINA HISTORY

Deng Xiaoping
Deng Xiaoping was born on August, 22nd 1904. he was a Chinese statesman and was the superior leader of China from 1978 to his retirement in 1992. Deng Xiaoping was the leader after Mao Zedong's death, however He refused to be associated with the cultural revolution that Mao started. Deng has a famous quote that states "The minority yields to the majority!". what Deng means by this is that the people living in the minority get fed up and over rule the people living with the most attention, becoming the majority. Deng Xiaoping died at the age of 92 on February 19th, 1997; 5 years after his retirement.
4 Modernizations
The 4 Modernizations of China are goals of leadership for Deng Xiaoping after Mao Zedong died. These 4 Modernizations include agriculture, industry, science and technology, and defense. The 4 Modernizations started to take place in the summer of 1974 and were achieved in the late fall of 1975.
Tiananmen Square Massacre
The Tiananmen Square is a square in the center of Beijing, China. It is the largest public open place in the world. The Tiananmen Square Massacre happened on June 4th, 1989. The Chinese troops crowded through the Tiananmen Square killing and arresting thousands of pro-democracy protestors. This brutal massacre shocked the west and brought consequences from the USA. About 300-1000 protestors were killed and 10,000 were arrested.
