Viator Voice: September 25, 2022
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:21
It's hard to believe that it'll be five years on October 1 since the tragic day that shocked our city and nation. This week, we honor those who lost their lives, their families, the survivors, and our beloved community.
We have come together in reflection, discussion, and prayer. We will not forget.
We are #ViatorStrong #VegasStrong.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
At many points in life, we become a beginner again. For example, learning a new dance move, engaging in a new sport, entering into a new relationship, becoming a parent – these are all points of beginning for us. We have to give ourselves permission to become a beginner throughout life no matter what we happen to be learning. This is true for being a beginner at coparenting as well. Coparenting is when we share the duties of raising a child with a person we are no longer in a relationship with. Sharing a child is stressful enough, but the stress is compounded when the relationship ends. Not only is it difficult for the parents, but it can be difficult for the child as well. This is when we (us parents) have to make the decision to be child-centered in our interactions with one another. This is never an easy task, but with the right mindset, communication, and a willingness to be a beginner at coparenting, we can make the experience a more productive and positive one for everyone. It’s important to begin by having grace and compassion for yourself. No one is an expert at coparenting in the beginning of the journey because it’s probably a road we haven’t been down before. Oftentimes, the transition can be filled with fear, insecurity, and confusion. But like most things that are new in the beginning, we can learn this new skill as well and create a space for our children that includes equity, better communication, empathy, and coparents who are allies.
Beginners Tips for Better Coparenting
Show up in this new world in a way that honors your child.
No matter your relationship dynamic, seek to provide your child with safe and emotionally neutral spaces.
Coparent as allies (as long as this is a healthy way to coparent).
Remember this is beautifully hard work, but well worth the effort.
Beginners typically have teachers and guides so ask for help when you don’t know the way.
Keep lines of communication open for your children.
On that note, if you need help as a beginner coparent or maybe even a seasoned coparent, I’m here to listen and support you on your journey. Please don’t feel you need to have it all figured out. You’re a beginner and you are surrounded by a community that wants to help you and your child. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Philippians 4:13
Blessings!

Viator Parish Tuition Rate Reminder
The most significant criteria to qualify for the Viator Parish rate is regular attendance at Sunday Mass using your envelopes.
In order to qualify for the Viator rate you MUST:
- Attend a minimum of 26 masses (Saturday or Sunday)
- Use the envelopes sent to you from the church
- Forgot your envelope? Remember your parish number and use a blank envelope provided at mass.
DO NOT
- Mail in your envelopes to St. Viator church. These will not be counted.
- Drop off your envelope in the church on a school mass day.
- Forgetting the envelope and telling the church or school you went.
Tuition review will happen in November and you should have 13 masses by this time. All rates will be reviewed and possibly adjusted after the assessment. If your rate is adjusted it will be reflected on the December statement. Please DO NOT call or email the school office or church office to ask if changes are being made until after the receipt of your statement.
Remember, parents are a model of faith for their children and when families join us on a regular basis they are showing their children the priority faith and church has in their lives.
