Financial Aid Night: Tomorrow (Sept. 29)!
Seniors & senior families, be sure to join the Post-Secondary Counselors Mr. Coy & Mr. Kain for their latest online meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, as they welcome Mary Nucciarone from the U. of Notre Dame's Financial Aid Office to discuss the financial aid process for incoming college students. National Hispanic Heritage Month
To celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month (also referred to as National Latinx/Latine Heritage Month), which began Sept. 15, the H-F Library wanted to share some resources! Check out the library's booklist, some videos, and links for further exploration by clicking here.
Viking Golf Outing: Oct. 9
The H-F Foundation and the H-F Alumni & Athletics Departments invite area adults to the 2022 Viking Golf Outing & Dinner. 100% of the proceeds will benefit H-F student clubs, organizations, activities and sports! Please help our Viking students by underwriting or sponsoring a portion of the event, put together your own golf group or join us for dinner. Here's what your day will look like at Coyote Run Golf Course on Sunday, Oct. 9:
- 11:30 a.m. - Registration & Check In
- 12:15 p.m. — Mega Putt Contest
- 12:30 p.m. — Shot-Gun Start (Scramble Format)
- 5:30 p.m. — Dinner Buffet
Golf Package: $150 — Includes greens fees for 18 holes with cart, lunch, dinner buffet, open bar, games, silent auction and prizes
Dinner Only: $50 — Join us at 5:30 p.m. for dinner & drinks

Youth Night: Oct. 7
Our next home Varsity Football game on Friday, Oct. 7, vs. Lincoln-Way East will be Youth Night, where junior high bands from James Hart & Parker will join our Viking Marching Band on the field. Our Cheer Team also welcomes youth cheerleaders ages 5-13 to perform with them. They will work together in a three-day clinic leading up to the big game. AP Exam Registration closes Saturday
Advanced Placement Students & Parents: Watch your mailbox for a special letter from the Assessment Office about registering for May 2023 AP Exams! Throughout this month, our teachers distributed special exam codes to students that they can use to register for exams via their College Board account. Students who would like to take the exam(s) in May must enroll in the course and confirm their exam selection by Saturday, Oct. 1. Exam fees must be paid by Nov. 10 through the PowerSchool portal. COVID Reporting Form
We are so happy to have our students back in person this school year! An important step to keeping school on track is to be sure to stay at home if you are not feeling well, especially if you are having COVID-19 symptoms or suspect you have COVID-19. If a student is COVID-19 positive, parents/guardians, please complete the District 233 COVID-19 Reporting Form (click here) for the Nurse's Office.
Junior in STEM Leadership Academy
Congratulations to junior Madison Thirston, who was selected from hundreds of applicants to join the Exelon STEM Leadership Academy at the Illinois Institute of Technology! She and her team won the team project award, which is designed to give young high school women hands-on experience in STEM, energy and sustainability.
Counselor named to Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Post-Secondary Counselor Mr. Coy, who will be inducted into the Loras College Hall of Fame in October. He was a two-sport athlete at his alma mater: Football and Track & Field. He finished college as a four-time All-American and a two-time NCAA Division III national runner up in track.
Girls' JV Volleyball: 1st Place
Congratulations to the Girls' JV Volleyball Red Team for taking first place at the 13th Annual JV Girls' Volleyball Invitational, held at H-F on Saturday! The team is coached by Mr. Nesbit, Science teacher.
Boys' Cross Country: 2nd Place
Congratulations to the Varsity Boys' Cross Country team for placing 2nd at the Lincoln-Way Central Invitational on Sept. 24. Four student-athletes improved their personal records by more than one minute at this meet! The team is coached by Mr. O'Donnell, Social Science teacher.
