The Most Influential Female Athlete (Serena Williams)

Serena Williams is the most influential female athlete to me.She is a top rank tennis player and the second African American women to win a grand slam singles title.

She won 19 Grand Slam singles titles,13 women doubles and 2 mixed doubles. She is the only female player in history to have surpassed the $50 million mark in career earnings. She was the first of Williams sisters to win a grand slam title. In 2013 she took her second French open title and first in more than a decade and fifth U.S. singles title.

She was just a fresh faced teenager from Compton California. Off the court Williams serves as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She had a blood clot in her lungs, her health issues kept her out of the game for several months. She also founded the Serena Williams secondary school in Kenya, Africa. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan on September 26, 1981.
