5th Grade Newsletter

for the week of December 14th- December 18th

What to Expect Next Week!

Reading- Students will analyze the manner in which various media formats present a message, while analyzing the techniques used in media.

Math- Students will take CBA #2 on Tuesday, December 15th.

Science- Students will begin to identify different types of alternative energy resources such as wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal and biofuels.

Writing- Students will identify the purpose and features of a persuasive text , and begin drafting a persuasive essay in using evidence.

Social Studies- Students will explain the causes and effects of the War of 1812 while determining the impact of this event in regard to American history.

Spelling- Latin suffix: -ate (to make or do) The remaining words will follow the spelling rule: vowel change – short to schwa

Spelling test will be THURSDAY, December 17th

FRIDAY- Our lunch and recess schedule will be different this day. :)

Lunch- 12:15- in our classroom (or outside, depending on weather)

Recess- 11:30-12:00
