Weekly Update for the week of January 21st, 2022

ELA: Mr. Gasparovic and Mrs. Wells

This week in ELA, students continued writing their literary essays. As we end the week, students should have completed the introduction. Introductions display a hook, brief plot summary, time period & place, author & title, and thesis statement. We will continue our work next week. Students will also need to work on this at home. As a reminder, students should be engaged in their independent reading novels between 20-30 minutes a day.

Science: Ms. Garwood and Mr. Geringer

This week in science students explored various types of energy sources that humans use to make our lives easier. These ranged from fossil fuels such as oil and coal to biofuels and geothermal energy. After researching their chosen energy type students prepared a folder presentation that will be used to guide peer learning and will be displayed in the hallways to highlight our learning to others.

Social Studies: Mr. Gasparovic and Dr. Rachal

In social studies this week students continue their exploration of ancient Chinese culture. Students will learn more about the 3 religious philosophies, and Chinese writing systems. We will start our journey into Ancient India next week.
