PREPARING FOR A 'MAV'NIFICENT YEAR!
Please know first and foremost, that Plano ISD will always communicate first to our parents regarding district information.
Our promise to you is to always get information to you as soon as we can. This year, our weekly school e-News will go out on Thursday afternoons.
However, as we work together to prepare for the start of the school year we will send out 'Special Editions' for those times when there is information you need to know sooner than later.
There are three topics provided below we need to share with you at this time.
FACE to FACE Instruction or Continue with REMOTE Learning:
We have also included information on how to request whether you would like your child to learn through Remote Instruction for the first nine weeks or return to Face to Face instruction.
We will all start the year (August 12-September 4) with online learning.
However, at this time our plan is that beginning on Tuesday, September 8th students will return to Face to Face learning unless parents have selected to continue with Remote Learning for the remainder of the first nine weeks of school. The last day to request Remote Learning for the first nine weeks is Thursday, August 6. (Information on how to request Remote Learning is provided on the first red button below.)
CURBSIDE DRIVE-BY PICK-UP Information:
Below, you will find Information regarding picking up school supplies and learning materials for the 2020-21 school year. You will also pick up a Chromebook if you do not currently have one. This would also be a great time to return any textbooks or library books you may have found over the summer. (Former 5th grade students who kept their Chromebooks over the summer will return them at this time as well.)
ELECTRONIC CHROMEBOOK TECHNOLOGY FORM:
All parents will need to sign the Technology form below once you have a Chromebook in your possession. Just click the link below to complete the form. (We will continue to include it in our newsletter for the next couple of weeks for those waiting to pick up Chromebooks.)
- If you kept your Chromebook over the summer, you can complete the form now.
- If you are a 2020 graduating 5th grader, you will be returning your Mathews Chromebook and will receive a new one from your middle school.)
In addition towards the bottom of our e-News we have included the information we provided from last Thursday's e-News just in case you missed it.
It is going to be a 'Mavnificent' year!
IMPORTANT: LEARNING ENVIRONMENT SELECTION
Students will automatically be enrolled in Face to Face on campus instruction unless parents request Remote Learning for the first nine weeks. The deadline to request Remote Learning is Thursday, August 6.
Pre K REGISTRATION

ONLINE REGISTRATION KINDERGARTEN - FIFTH GRADE
Online registration for elementary students (Kindergarten-5th grade) new to the district for the 2020-21 school year is now open. Parents can use the secure document portal to upload required documentation. Get more information and the enrollment packet online. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions about registration.

CURBSIDE DRIVE-BY PICK UP
AUGUST 10 AND 11 11:00 AM-4:00 PM
Time to pick up your child(ren)'s learning material for the 2020-21 school year so you will have everything you need at home when school starts Wednesday, August 12!
- We will have Learning Materials for each student.
- If you do not have a Mathews Chromebook at home you will also be able to pick up a Chromebook for each Mathews student in your home.
- If you ordered school supplies through the PTA we will have those ready for you to pick up as well.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 11
11:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.
HOW THIS WILL WORK:
You will need to have a sign in your passenger front window with each child's first and last name and grade they will be entering for the 2020-21 school year. Please use large print.
Also beside the grade level of each child write a 'C' if you need a Chromebook.

This will help us expedite the pick-up process.
If you kept your Chromebook over the summer, you are good to go. We still have the computer assigned to your child.
If you are a former 5th grade Mathews 2020 graduate and still have your Chromebook need you to come by during this time to return your Mathews Chromebook. We currently have 30 5th graders with Chromebooks still checked out.
Once you have a Chromebook for each Mathews student in your home, please complete the Survey/Agreement by pressing the button below. If you already have Chromebooks from Mathews in your home from last spring, you can complete the information at this time. (Just click the red button below.)
So we can serve our community best. Please complete one survey for each student in your home that attends Mathews. There is also a place to share what your current wi-fi status is at your home in order to support Remote Learning. Thank you!

Summer Grab and Go Meals
In partnership with the Texas Department of Agriculture, the Plano ISD Food and Nutritional Services Department will be providing free grab-and-go summer meals to the public beginning, Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at the following campus sites:
- Armstrong Middle School
- Bowman Middle School – New Site
- Christie Elementary School
- Daffron Elementary School
- Mitchell Elementary School
- Sigler Elementary School
Updated curbside grab-and-go meal serving times for these locations will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Children 18 years of age and younger will receive a lunch for that day and a breakfast for the following day. Anyone picking up meals for students, without the student present, must bring appropriate documentation in the form of a school issued ID, report card, birth certificate or the verification letters families are currently providing during meal pick up.
