News from Mrs. Priebe's 4th grade class

Thank You!

Thank you so much for joining me at Parent Teacher Conferences! I enjoyed talking with each of you about how we can better help your child! Many of the children expressed joy in leading their PT conference! (By the way, I'm always a phone call away - if you prefer a separate conference without your child present - we can do that too!)

I continue to be proud of the students' math test scores! The lessons will be begin to get more difficult as I introduce new concepts. Thank you so much for checking/helping your child with any math questions!

This week we will cover:

Monday - Lesson 20 - Rounding

Tuesday - Investigation - Length and Perimeter

Wednesday - Lesson 21 - Triangles, Rectangles, Squares, and Circles

Thursday - Lesson 22 - Naming Fractions

Friday - Test 4

Also, please encourage a few minutes of daily math fact practice! XtraMath and IXL.com are fantastic websites to sharpen those skills!

Language Arts

Every six weeks after completing a unit in Reading Wonders, the students participate in a literature circle. This week we will be taking some time to read and discuss a historical fiction book - Sarah Plain and Tall. Do you remember reading this book in fourth grade?

We will cover many different skills this week - making inferences, comparing/contrasting, imagery, characterization, and theme!

This week's spelling words will include difficult sight words. Encourage daily practice and be sure to check your child's planner for spelling homework. Also, take advantage of SpellingCity ... great resource and makes studying for spelling fun!

Spelling Homework:

Four activities from the "spelling menu" due by Friday! Please ask if you have any questions!
