Digital Goats light up WCC for 829 Day

The WCC students and staff celebrated the Warren Robotics Team 829 with 829 Day a day early this year due to 8/29 falling on Saturday. The Digital Goats are recognized throughout the world as one of the top programs on an annual basis. 829 has won multiple regional titles, a state title, and have represented Walker in the World Championships on numerous occasions. As of today, there are over 20,000 different FIRST Robotics Teams, but since we were one of the very first teams, we have a 3 digit team number (829). Most current teams have a 5 digit number. To learn more about the 829 Digital Goats, please follow them on Social Media or contact Mr. Harvey or Mr. Griffin.

Our Digital Goats are excited to return to action this year as their competitive season was limited to one competition last school year.

Culinary Arts is Rising to the challenge

Our Culinary Arts program has had to make several adjustments to their curriculum this year as they continue to maintain a safe and effective workspace. Early on, they have spent a great deal of time working on their Servsafe certifications and Sanitation Labs (pictured below). This week, they were able to get into the kitchen for a preparing and caring for their Sourdough lab, check out the growth in just 4 hours.

As a reminder, due to the Culinary Arts program being a dual credit program through Ivy Tech we will be working on curriculum based labs throughout this Fall semester and will not be opening the restaurant.

Thank you Girl Scouts of Central Indiana!

This week, the Walker Career Center staff was greeted with a complimentary box of Girl Scout Cookies thanks to the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana!

"As a welcome back to school, and a huge thank you, Girl Scouts of Central Indiana would like to say WE LOVE YOU in our own small, yet yummy way. We will provide a free package of Girl Scout Cookies to every staff member at all K-12 central Indiana schools within the 45 counties we serve.

It’s a token of our appreciation for what you do every day, especially right now, when that every day is requiring a unique type of leadership and preparation."
