Reflecting, Naming, and Sharing Our Expertise
It's that time of year! Studio writers have spent the season brainstorming a pile of great ideas, drafting up pieces that bring them to life, and reflecting on their strengths and their needs.
Next weekend, we begin the work of revision, and I can't wait to see what this will mean to the new writers who joined us this year. Revision is hard work, true. When it happens within a writing community, it is often a very empowering experience too.
At Studio, we spend a great deal of time reflecting on our work and on our growth as writers. My greatest goal is to support kids as they learn more and more about what matters to them and what they are good at. It's not about my expertise....it's about theirs.
This is the time of year when writers begin to share their expertise in service to one another. This is a little bit scary. It's a little bit hard.
It's also a whole lot of wonderful.
See you next weekend!
Don't forget any drafts you've been working on!
