Face-Covering Requirements changing March 7
Face Coverings will become recommended but not required in the school building for all students, staff and visitors effective March 7. We know that this is a welcome change for some of you and a big point of concern for others. Know that we will do our best to continue to mitigate the spread of the virus, like spacing where possible and encouraging proper hand sanitation. Just a few items to note, and know that we appreciate your cooperation with the following:
- Please help us limit the spread by closely monitoring your child and not sending him/her to school if they have symptoms.
- Note that face coverings are required upon a return from a positive Covid diagnosis for days 6-10 and on school buses (federal law requires masking on transportation)
- Please work next week to prepare students that we are to be respectful of everyone's choice to either wear or not wear a face-covering. Help them understand that we do not know everyone's situation at home or health concerns that may require they continue to wear a face-covering. I don't expect it to be an issue, but just to get in front of it, please let them know that making fun of someone for wearing or not wearing a mask will not be tolerated.

What would go in your Zones of Regulation toolkit? Think about:
What helps you to calm down when you are stressed/worried?
What helps you to focus when you are tired?
What do you do to calm down when you are angry?
Different tools work for different people. Spend time talking and helping your child choose what works for them when they need to move from one zone to another?
Here are some examples of types of tools:
Sensory tools: play-doh, lava lamp, weighted blanket, blowing bubbles, bear hug, jumping
Calming tools: doing a puzzle, listening to music, reading, taking a walk, deep breathing, grounding techniques (Ex: 5,4,3,2,1 - 5 things you see, 4 things you hear, 3 things you smell, 2 things you can touch, 1 thing you taste)
As a family, try some of these tools out and talk through how they make each person feel or when to use them.
