Thoughts from Dr. Pacatte
D56 Gurnee Teacher of the Year
Mr. Randy Luce joined Gurnee School District 56 in 1999 as a School Psychologist and has been a member of the D56 family ever since. Over the years, he has worked at all four of the schools in District 56. The work of a School Psychologist is critical to being able to provide the appropriate support services for students experiencing challenges as a learner. The manner in which Mr. Luce approaches his work demonstrates the highest level of respect for students, families, and teachers. A School Psychologist is always working behind the scenes, making sure teachers and teams have the data they need to identify the appropriate strategies to help a student succeed. When a student struggles with learning, the whole family may struggle. Randy's calm manner, professional skills, and ability to communicate complicated information to parents have helped parents to feel comfortable and a part of their child's educational team. His calm and approachable manner makes him the perfect role model for young teachers starting out.
As a long time community member and colleague, Randy is always willing to pitch in. His level of commitment to the job and district is a part of our success.
Mr. Randy Luce is being recognized by the Henderson Family Foundation, as Gurnee School District 56's Teacher of the Year at the May 8th meeting of the Board of Trustees. Congratulations, Randy!
