Required Live Classroom Schedule
As a part of the requirements of the course, students are expected to attend live sessions with any French IV instructor (1 session/unit). The dates/times of live sessions will be provided in this section of the newsletter each week. The instructor will communicate with students in course announcements should there be any change.
* No sessions scheduled this week
To access the live classroom, students should click the link in Blackboard titled "Live Classroom French 4." It is suggested that for the first time they arrive approximately 15 minutes early to ensure that they are able to enter the chat room and check the functionality of all tools. Students should log in with both their first and last names, or if attending by teleconference, they should identify themselves to the instructor upon entry.

Reminder: Enabling Media
Are you or your students having difficulty seeing course content? Due to some recent security updates in BlackBoard, browsers are now blocking media content that runs Java and Flash. Please note the following message from technology:
There have been some follow up questions about the mixed content message that has gone out previously and is currently on the front page of both our Blackboard and Moodle environments. The whole issue has to do with browser security measures to protect users (that's you) from malicious content contained in flash, java, and other rich media elements on a page.
So, because NCVPS instructors often use tools that require these programs, it's important that students adjust browser settings upon each log in to ensure that this content loads (i.e. - not disable them entirely). Click the title above to view an instructional video on how to enable content.

This used to be an option that we could turn off and do so for several years. Blackboard has decided to make this not an optional configuration anymore and the security protocol is universal across all of their servers. That said, a person should be able to click on the shield once and have it register for all pages at ncvps.blackboard.com.
There are ways to disable this security feature in your browser but this is not something we suggest anyone do or could support the possible ramifications to their computer once they have done so (read: open your computer up to a lot of potential security risks).
