News from Conyers Learning Academy
October 9, 2020
Dear CLA Families,
Our first three weeks with students back at CLA have gone very well and we are excited to welcome back even more friends next week. Our Virtual students and families are doing a great job in their virtual classrooms, accessing Seesaw, and participating in their Google Meet/Zoom sessions. Keep up the great work!
The staggered reentry to CLA has helped all of our students and staff ensure we are implementing our social distancing protocols to the best of our ability, and helping our students learn to wear masks at school for the first time. We want to thank all of our families for their support during this difficult transition period.
Starting next week on October 13th, our schedule for some of our students will change.

Student Health Certification
As students return to school, parents are required to certify that their child is symptom and exposure free each day. Before you send your student to school, a parent must sign the student’s Health Certification lanyard for that day. By signing the lanyard every day you are certifying that the answers to the questions and symptoms below are all ‘no’.
- Fever of 100.4° or higher
- New onset of moderate to severe headache
- Cough
- Sore Throat
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Shortness of breath
- Abdominal pain from unknown cause
- New congestion/ runny nose
- New loss of sense of taste or smell
- Nausea
- Fatigue from unknown cause
- Muscle or body aches
Have you been told by a contact tracer that your child has been in close contact with a COVID-19 positive person in the last 14 days?
At the end of each week a new card will be placed in your child’s lanyard for the following week. Please note that the card must be dated and signed each day prior to school.
If a child comes to school and they do not have a lanyard or their lanyard is not signed, your child will be assessed by the school nurse, and a reminder note will be sent home, or phone call will be made. If the student shows any symptoms of COVID, they will be brought to the Protective Health Space and will need to be picked up from school immediately.
Additionally, if a student develops any symptoms of COVID throughout the school day (see list above), they will be brought to the Protective Health Space and will need to be picked from school immediately.
Transportation
Buses
If your child is taking the bus to and/or from school, you can find the pickup and drop off times in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
If your child has a safety vest/harness as part of his/her IEP, you can come to the main entrance of CLA on Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:30 and 3:30 to sign it out.
If you are not sure if your child requires a safety vest based on their IEP, please contact your child’s teacher.
All students are required to wear a mask while they are riding the bus. Please keep practicing with your child to wear a mask!
Please make sure to put your child’s first and last name on their backpack prior to the first day of school.

Make sure to label your child’s mask!
If possible, please put an extra mask in your child’s backpack in case their mask gets wet, dropped on the floor, or dirty.
There will be short mask breaks built into the daily schedule for each classroom.

Breakfast, Snack and Lunch at CLA
Students in the half day Early Childhood classrooms will not be allowed to eat in the classrooms. We want to make sure that all students are able to have breakfast and a snack each day, so these meals will be sent home with students to eat at home.
All students at CLA will be provided with the opportunity to take home a breakfast and snack package and a sack lunch. The breakfast is meant for students to eat the next day prior to coming to school. The lunch can be eaten that day for AM students and for the next day for PM students.
Please contact your child’s teacher if you are interested in having a Breakfast/Snack, Lunch, and/or Milk sent home each day with your child.
