Hello Panther Families,
How to help your child succeed in school.
Make school attendance a priority:
- Talk about to them about how important it is for them to attend school everyday, let them know what is expected from them.
- Help your child keep a daily routine, like finishing homework and getting a good night's sleep.
- Try not to schedule dental and medical appointments during the school day.
- Don't let your child stay home unless they are truly sick. Complaints of headaches or stomach aches may be signs of anxiety.
Help your child stay engaged:
- School staff is there to help. Please reach out to them if you have any question or concerns.
- Stay on top of academic progress and seek help from teachers or tutors if necessary. Make sure teachers know how to contact you.
- Encourage meaningful school activities, including afterschool sports and clubs.
Communicate with the school
- Know the school's attendance and school policies.
- Talk to teachers if you notice a sudden change in behavior in your child.
- Check on your child's attendance to be sure absences are not piling up.
- Talk with the District Homeless and Foster Care Liaison if you are having trouble getting your child to school.
*Be sure to update your phone number or address with the Homeless and Foster Care Liaison and school staff if they change.*
