Welcome to Week 25!
Greetings Team Wolverines!
March is off to a great start at Wilder! We celebrated our custodians and maintenance teams last week for Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day. We are grateful for all that they do to keep our building clean and functional! Our students continue to grow academically and we are celebrating lots of growth. I am so thankful for our teachers and staff who continue to do amazing work with our students! We will end week 25 with a student and staff holiday on Friday. I hope that you enjoy a day of fun or relaxation!
Thank you for your ongoing support! I hope to see you at Thursday's SCA Movie Night!
~Mrs. Broudy

Code Beats Live!
Fri. March 18, 6:15pm
Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU (601 W. Broad St.)
Code Beats is an interdisciplinary research project led by Dr. David Shepherd, Associate Professor, VCU Engineering Computer Science Dept. and Dr. Taylor Barnett, Assistant Professor, VCUarts Dept. of Music.
This one-hour program (7pm) features live music performed by Hip Hop Artist Dumi Right and VCUarts Music students, a live coding demonstration, and information about the July 18-22, 2022 Code Beats summer program for Richmond-area middle school students.
Come early (6:15pm) to enjoy some refreshments and to play with several interactive technology stations, including Virtual and Augmented Reality, industrial robots, and digital music!
About Code Beats:
Code Beats works to broaden youth participation in computing by teaching students to create authentic-sounding hip-hop beats using fundamental computer programming concepts. The project aims to particularly engage Black, Latinx, and female youth during the critical middle school years, when many students decide whether future opportunities in Computer Science merit consideration.
The Code Beats summer program is funded by a National Science Foundation grant.

Gifted Parent Session March 8
Henrico’s Family and Community Engagement Department and Gifted Programs will host Dr. Jannine Jannot on March 8th, at 6:00 PM, through Bridge Builder Academy. Dr. Jannot’s session will cover developmental and cultural influences that cause today’s students to feel overwhelmed and stressed out, how this affects them academically and emotionally, and why they don’t ask for help. The “Disintegrating Student” session will teach parents how to help their child embrace what’s going right, address what’s going wrong, and develop the skills they need for success in school. Please join us for this virtual gathering and discussion!
Attendance
It is important that students attend school each day and arrive on time to ensure they are receiving all of their instruction. Please see below for important information regarding attendance.
· School starts at 8:05 each day. Students are considered tardy if they arrive at 8:30 or later.
· Notify the school by calling the front office at (804) 515-1100 if your child will be absent from school. If we are not notified of an absence, your child will be marked absent unexcused automatically.
· Our attendance team regularly monitors student attendance. Families of students with five or more unexcused absences will be required to meet to develop a support plan for attendance.
· If there is anything we can do to support your efforts in making sure your child is at school every day, please reach out to your child’s school counselor or our Family Advocate, Mrs. Clarke!
