New Information
As you begin to plan for the first week DON'T forget our focus on relationships and Building Strong Hearts! Make sure our students know how much we have MISSED them! Mrs. West and I will be on the news at 9:30 as long as all Kinders are settled by then. This should give us enough time to be done before 5th grade recess. We will keep you updated the first day.
Kinder lunch is 12:00-12:30 ... ALL hands on DECK (for about the first two weeks)... and remember ALL means ALL! :)
I am still working on getting all our subscriptions together but here is what we purchased and the cost so you can see what our Title money was spent on. Be on the look out for your login emails from these.

I know we had discussed and decided that 3-5 will share a Google classroom this year amongst each grade level team (i.e. "Third Grade"). You now have a second option IF you choose to ... this is your choice ... You can keep it the same and share the one classroom OR you can each create your own subject classroom but if you do this you must create a grade level google site to house all links in one place. I will be happy to answer any question you may have about this.
PROWL groups will need to begin on Thursday & Friday the first week of school to allow transitions to be practiced and for teachers to begin relationship building with their small groups. Remember the first day of school students will go straight to class or breakfast and breakfast will be to go. --- We will begin creating PROWL groups at back to school PD.
I have added the assessment schedules for each grade level at the bottom of the s'more.
Remember, that wordy study and small groups will be made based off of Phonics First data NOT PAST data. Past data will drive instruction during small groups but will not be the determining factor for making groups.
We will PAST test during PROWL for small groups starting Friday, August 28th.
Positive Parental Contacts will be due to Mrs. West by September 11th. Support Staff teachers will need to select 23 students to make a positive parental contact for. Mrs. West will set this up for you in the Google Classroom.
ESC Works descriptions will be sent out soon and will be due by September 11th.
Reminders
Back to School PD August 19th and 20th. Agenda will be sent out SOON!
1st day of school for Kindergarten will be adjusted to 9:00-2:30. You will still have bus riders who will be here at 7:25 to 3:25 so be prepared for those students to arrive to you at normal time. Siblings will be released at 2:30 as well. We will discuss this more at building PD.
Activity teachers will share a google classroom for each grade level (i.e. "5th Grade Activity").
The district has purchased dividers for your small group tables. These will require some assembly and we will use community volunteers to help us put them together. I will let you know when they are in.
Reminders and details for Orientation:
Your videos need to be uploaded to the Wakelet by 5:00 on the 19th. 3-5 you can upload one video of you all together - or you can do them separately. K-2 will each make their own video. When you upload the video title it "your name" and then homeroom or if you do yours together then your grade level can be the title. However, fourth grade you need to put names on yours since you have two teams. Ex: Mrs. Mahan's Homeroom, Third Grade, Krisell/Childress Fourth Grade, etc.
Grades 1-5 your report times to be in the building that night are 6:15-7:15.
You don't have to cover any COVID procedures in your videos.
You will zoom with your parents at 6:30 on the 20th. This will be for them to see you and for you to answer any questions they may have after they have watched your video and our facebook live. This needs to end by 6:45. New students to the building will be coming to your room at 6:45 after they meet with Mrs. West and myself, we will send them to you.
You will need to create your zoom and add your zoom link to this spreadsheet by the19th at 5:00.
Support staff and SPED see the schedule Mrs. West sent out.

Classroom Set Up and Supplies Reminder Email
I first want to say thank you to each one of you! You all have handled this like the pros that you are and worked so hard to set up your rooms, get rid of things you didn't really want to, and then listen to Mrs. West and I tell you to change things a million times. :) We have walked through the building today and all your ideas have been great for room arrangements. Here are a few things to consider:
- Students do not need to be sitting right across from each other (facing) or right next to each other side by side (facing the same direction)
- Some of you have done circles but the students sitting shoulder to shoulder will need to be farther apart. You may have to widen your circle (so that the corners of the desks aren't touching) or consider staggered rows.
- The "u" shaped rows all seem to be fine just try to make sure the corners of the desks aren't touching. Try to get the maximum distance apart from each students' chair.
Supplies:
Most of you have sent me what you are short, if you haven't done that yet please do. You may now go to the team meeting room and get from there what you are short on supplies. If you are still short on supplies after you have gone to the team meeting room then please use this spreadsheet to let me know what you still need. This way I can try to track it down for you before the first day of school.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
