Happy Birthday to These Two Guys Who Share the Same Day! SRO Wilson and PE Teacher Jeremy Borgan!
The 5-8 graders at Longfellow, Gertie Belle Rogers, LB Williams and Mitchell Middle School got the opportunity to learn a little bit about marching. They sat with the high school band during the 1st half of the Mitchell Kernel's football game and then played bucket drums along with the band's halftime performance. What a fun experience for ALL involved.
Thank you to Mr. Stahle and all of the high school band members for including these future band members and giving them a little taste of what their hard work can turn into.

Festival Choir 2022
On Monday, March 7th 2022 SDMEA (South Dakota Music Education Association) will be holding their annual Festival Choir as a kick-off to Music in our Schools Month. There will be 7 choirs taking place around the state. This choir is for young musicians in grades 4-6 and I have the opportunity to take up to 40 students to this event!
This year Mitchell will be a host site for Festival Choir!! The students will have a chance to rehearse music with other students throughout the area and then perform in a concert in a at 4:00 that afternoon. The cost for registration for this event is $35.00 per student. This price includes an event t-shirt, lunch, snacks, and music. If the price of registration is an issue, please let me know and I can see what I can do to help. No student is excluded because of their financial situation.
In addition to the day-long choir event, the students will meet once a week (for about 30 minutes) in order to learn and memorize the music for this event. These rehearsals would begin in January and would be held on Tuesday mornings from 7:40-8:10 am. These rehearsals will provide the students with the opportunity to enhance their musical skills and learn to sing as a small ensemble.
Please understand that this event is NOT mandatory for your child. If you do wish for your child to be a part of this event, please send a check for $35.00 (made out to GBR) and their SIGNED sheet given to them by Ms. Woodmansey in Music with your child to school by Friday, December 3rd. If you do not wish them to participate nothing is needed to be done.
Students that participate in Festival choir will be expected to learn and memorize their music, attend all rehearsals, and will need to do any make up work with their teacher.
Please talk with your child about this opportunity and e-mail me at email@example.com with any questions or concerns you may have.

LIBRARY NEWS - CHECK OUT THE NEW BOOKS
October was a busy month getting new books ready for the library! Not only did we receive over $600 worth of free books from Scholastic because of our phenomenal book fair sales, students also raised almost $400 for our coin drive for new books. In addition to that we were fortunate enough to have received a $5000 grant. A huge THANK YOU to Dr. Graves applying for it for us. The new books have been a huge hit.
Thank you to all the families who donated to the coin drive and to all who ordered books and supported our library! I appreciate all of you .
