September 8, 2017
It is hard to believe that we started the year with a total solar eclipse and now ending the third week of school watching the track of a category 5 hurricane, Irma. Please listen closely to public announcements and watch for any School Messenger email or call. While we have a calendar of events for a busy week, the weather and emergency needs dictate what we will actually be doing.
Happy Grandparents Day to our wonderful and loyal grandparent supporters! You are awesome and make a huge difference in the lives of our children. I want to give a shoutout to our "stand-in" grandparents! You do make a difference! I hope your special Sunday brings great joy!
This week is our Book Fair! I love the Book Fair!!! Yes, reading is the key to success in real life and in learning (all areas of content). You should have received the flyer to preview and teachers will take students or allow them to go in small groups to preview the book selection. Students may shop each day.
For this special Book Fair week, we have Grits for Grands. This year we will do three (3) mornings so that parking and traffic isn't a nightmare. Breakfast is $1.35 for Students and $2.35 for Adults.
Tuesday, Sept. 12 -- 7:00-7:40 a.m. Grits for Grands/students with last names starting with A-H
Wednesday, Sept. 13 -- 7:00-7:40 a.m. Grits for Grands/students with last names starting with I-P
Thursday, Sept. 14 -- 7:00-7:40 a.m. Grits for Grands/students with last names starting with Q-Z
Of course, we hope that our students and guests will then go shopping for quality reading materials at the Book Fair in the Learning Commons (library)!
Can't wait to see our company next week!!! Have a wonderful weekend and start looking over the book selections!
Yours truly,
Jan Fickling, Principal
PS. Just reminding you that this schedule could change depending on Hurricane Irma. Messages will go out if it does!
