Message from the Principal

Hello Alder Parents and Families!

We are winding down and ready to close out this school year! We've had another fun week at Alder! Check out the pictures below beginning with the 8th grade awards, the Catawba Festival and visits from both the High School Color Guard and Chorus!

We close out this week with our 8th grade dinner dance on Thursday, June 23rd, and the 8th grade picnic on Friday, June 24th, our last day of school.

Happy Father's Day to all our awesome Alder dads!

8th Grade Awards

The awards presented were a testament to the hard work and effort these students have put into their academics, athletics, character, and passion. They represent sacrifices and choices, exceptional abilities, and gifts, perseverance and dedication. It was an honor to present these well-deserved awards.

STEAM Tank Challenge Finals Recognitions

Ms. Zompa's 8th Grade team (MH2) participated in this year's STEAM Tank Challenge and received recognitions in the following categories:

  • Societal, Social and Emotional Impact Award - given to teams who demonstrate great care and concern for human conditions, the well-being of individuals, families, groups of people, or animals/wildlife.

  • Innovative use of Technology & Design Award - given to the team demonstrates innovative uses of technology software, programming or control technology that solves a real world problem and benefits individuals, communities or organizations.

  • Subject Matter Expert Award - for teams who demonstrate a high level of effort or success in collaborating with Subject Matter experts (SME's) to help with their projects. This could be working with U.S. Army experts and companies or individuals who have knowledge and expertise related to their specific idea/invention.

The Egg Harbor Township High School Color Guard stopped by for a quick visit and presentation at Alder this week. This is just one of the many opportunities our 8th graders will have next year at the high school.

8th Grade Orange Team's Cultural Luncheon

The 8th grade Orange Team celebrated cultural diversity with a luncheon on Thursday. Students brought in their favorite dish representing their family's traditional foods. What a delicious way to celebrate our diversity!
