Academic Updates
EOY Status Updates
The administration has submitted a plan to CPSB for approval regarding the following:
* collecting classroom supplies
* cleaning out lockers
* returning library books
* returning text books
* returning instruments
* returning devices
Additionally, we are working on plans for the following:
* distributing 3rd and 4th nine weeks report cards
* registration, contract signing, and selecting electives (MS students only)
* Cheer and dance try-outs
* distributing yearbooks
* summer reading
* Hawk Talk / Jess Staff applications and selection
* STUCO elections
* PTSA refunds for Field Day and AAGD pre-orders
In order to ensure that all parents receive information regarding contract signing and registration for 2020-2021, we need to build an email database as most parents do not have their email information in JCAMPUS. We are asking every parent/guardian to complete the information form found here for each child you have currently attending Herndon in Kindergarten through 7th grade.
The administration and teachers are committed to ensuring that we communicate needed information with all parents and families. Information will be available at www.herndonmagnetschool.com, on the Herndon Magnet School Facebook page, JCalls from Mr. Thomas, and via the Herndon Happenings newsletter.
Caddo Cares
We want to encourage parents and caregivers to access the following link: https://www.caddoschools.org/caddo-cares/ It includes information on how to support your child’s social emotional and behavioral health.
Additionally, if you or your child need to talk to a counselor, Mrs. Ross (ksross@caddoschools.org) and Mrs. Carlisle (kmcarlisle@caddoschools.org) are available in Google Classroom or via email. They can set up a time to talk via ZOOM or phone call.

Next, we want to remind you that if you have any questions or concerns, we are here to help you in any way we can. Please reach out to your child's teachers, the counselors, or administrators. You can find a list of email addresses, phone numbers (call and leave a message and it will go to the person's email), and office hours here.
Finally, students will be graded on the work completed during this online learning process. Caddo is following the LDOE guidelines that grades during this time may "do no harm." However, as you all know, learning is about more than the grade one receives. We hope that parents and students will continue to do the best they can in completing the assignments that teachers are providing and reach out whenever you have questions.
