Academics Principal's Message
Week of April 13, 2020
Message from Chief Academic Officer~Dr. Elizabeth Blanco
Dear PUSD Leadership Team,
Thanks for honoring the “Safer at Home Practices” and agreeing to work from home until further notice. These steps are necessary in order to flatten the curve, reduce and eliminate health risks for all. I appreciate your continued dedication and concern for our children, caregivers, families and staff. As a united PUSD team, we will work together to continue to support instructional and technology needs through central models.
For your reference, I am sharing the LCAP update materials presented today in the event you want to share with others.as well as a video link to “This is Equity” a project of the Alliance for Continuous Improvement
In viewing this video, I thought of you, courageous PUSD leaders, and your engagement in learning and modeling the continuous improvement process at today’s Principal’s meeting. Thank you for being solution-oriented leaders focused on students and for your willingness to find ways to engage our School Site Council members and parent leaders (virtually) in the evaluation and development of 2020-21 Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) plans. Although these planning efforts are fluid and given our current reality revisions may be necessary later, your continued engagement with the community will reassure stakeholders that we have a plan for the future, aimed at positive outcomes for students.

Remote Learning Updates
Arts and Enrichment
- We moved all of the content from the grade level remote learning pages so that it is less cumbersome for teachers to access and clearer for students and parents.
- This class is accessible to all K-5 students and teachers and has content by grade level.
- It is being updated and added to weekly, so please encourage your teachers to link their classes to it!
- Middle School (6-8) GATE Enrichment class in PowerSchool is now available to all students. We moved the grade level remote learning pages, but wanted to keep this content accessible for students
GATE Secondary Review:
- Please email Karen Anderson the digital cover sheets for each of your secondary review students with your recommendation and supporting documentation
- If you were not able to complete the documentation before we left school, please arrange to have a google meet with your GATE site rep and the teacher to complete the cover page and make a determination
- All paperwork MUST be submitted by April 20
- Please refer to your GATE data folder and GATE dashboard to find your list of secondary review students as well as cogAT7 data.
