Halloween Costume Guidelines
- Please be sure costume is simple and can be put on quickly and with little help from an adult
- Please do not send anything that could resemble a weapon to school
- Please do not send your child in makeup or expect that they will be able to apply makeup at school
- Please do not include the face/eye/head covering with the costume (children will already need to wear their regular mask/mouth covering during the school day)
- Please use judgement when choosing a costume; very scary costumes can frighten our youngest children. Please save the scary costume for your Halloween night fun!
- If your child needs a costume, please contact our school counselor, Mr. Maloley at maloley.zachary@westside66.net

Heads up! A show on TV is finding its way to school
If you are not aware, there is a show on Netflix called Squid Game. This is a show depicting adults taking part in children's games with deadly consequences. While the name may sound innocuous, the content is not; this show does not seem appropriate for young children.
If you would like more information, please take a look at the Netflix website.
I am discouraging reference to this television show here at school. These concepts are fine for adults with fully formed brains and value systems; they are inappropriate for young children who are just learning about the world and learning how to play games together.
Thank you for taking care with the media content your children access; we are all the better for your efforts!

Holiday Assistance
It’s hard to believe but the holiday season is right around the corner. As part of the Westside Community Schools family, we are fortunate to have some groups and organizations that are generous in many ways, especially when it comes to helping children.
Each year, several churches in the community, community service clubs and individual donors offer to help students whose families may be experiencing some temporary financial setbacks due to the tough economic times. These groups often donate a food basket, clothing and/or gifts. These items are meant to assist you in what you are already providing for your family.
If your family is not receiving assistance from other organizations, we are here to provide support. If you need assistance during the holiday season, please contact your school counselor, Mr. Zach Maloley at maloley.zachary@westside66.net or call 402-408-8462.
