How to reduce, reuse, and recycle

You can do many things to help save the planet. You can recycle by throwing those pieces of paper in the blue recycling can instead of the trash. You can reuse old milk jugs by turning them into a scoop for bird seed. You can reduce your garbage by not buying so many small milk jugs, you can by one big one. A few small changes can add up to a lot!

Fun facts

Did you know that it takes about 450 years for a plastic bottle to break down in a land fill. It also takes about 1 million years to break down a glass bottle. Preventing one ton of paper waste saves between 15 and 17 mature trees. Do you know that almost half of the food in the U.S goes to waste, that is 3,000 pounds per second.

Earth Day history

Gaylord Nelson is the inventor of Earth Day in 1970. He witnessed a massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California, that is why he had the idea about Earth Day. He was also inspired by the student anti-war moment.
