SIS / SMS COVID-19 UPDATE
April 30, 2020
======culture. relationships. future ready======
Good Morning Parents, Students and Staff,
WOW!!!! Tomorrow is May 1, 2020...if you are anything like myself, I have lost all track of time and dates. I hope this weekly message finds you and your family safe and healthy. Now that we are off and running with distance learning and the students and staff are starting to get into some routines, my shift in mindset goes to the remainder of the year and preparing for the 2020-21 school year. Both myself and Mrs. Nau have included a lot of information in this week's newsletter, but know that it is crucial to keep you updated in order to begin our planning for the upcoming year.
I am trying to keep everything as simple as possible. I want to assure parents, students and staff that we will do everything within our power to make the transition to the 2020-21 school year as seamless as possible. Every decision and discussion administration has related to the topics above or any other school related decision, always starts with what is best for students.
Please stay safe and healthy. I miss you all terribly.
Mr. Proctor
Student Belongings
If you have a 7th or 8th grader, please come to the school to clean out their locker. Appointments are preferred, but if you can't make one then just come to the school Monday through Thursday from 7:30 to 3:00 pm.
Summer Bridges
This is our two week math bridge program designed to better equip our students to be successful in Algebra 1 at Stayton High School. We will be having a virtual parent meeting on Wednesday May 13th at 6:00 PM. We will continue to provide information leading up to the meeting. Feel free to reach out to us if you want more information.
8th Grade Promotion
We will be doing something for our 8th grade students to celebrate moving to the high school. We are discussing different options. Please know that whatever we decide will be based on everyone's health and safety and practicing social distancing. Just know that something will be done, we just need to make sure everyone's safety is at the forefront of our decision making process.
7th/8th 2020-21 Electives
Mrs. Nau is sending a google form/survey to students and parents. Please return only one of the surveys. If you are in AVID, Band or Choir, those are year long electives, so you will only be choosing one other. Our electives next year will be on wheels. Within each wheel there will be nine weeks of health, technology component, social science component, art and one wheel has PE. Please know that you are not guaranteed the wheel you sign up for.
AVID Recruitment
Next year we will be adding a 6th grade AVID elective class. We will continue to have 7th and 8th grade AVID elective classes. We will be sending out information in the near future to begin the process of applying, interviewing and selection for our new AVID classes. Please be aware that these information meetings and recruitment opportunities will be virtually presented.
