Principal Rebecca Lofton's Welcome Letter and Podcast | Valley Oaks School now has a new PCS website. Ashley Collingwood, the Communications Coordinator for the Petaluma City Schools district office, has helped us create our new website. All schools in the district are working to have the same website template used by the Petaluma City Schools district office. We are so happy to have this new website! Thank you, Ms. Collingwood! | New School-Wide Assignment: Academic Digital PortfoliosAs of this fall, all Valley Oaks students will create an academic digital portfolio of their school year. We are excited about this new school requirement and believe that students will enjoy expressing themselves with this creative assignment. Instructions for this school-wide assignment are posted on our website under ACADEMICS. We look forward to an exciting Open House in the spring when all students will share their academic portfolios. |

Valley Oaks School now has a new PCS website.
New School-Wide Assignment: Academic Digital Portfolios
As of this fall, all Valley Oaks students will create an academic digital portfolio of their school year. We are excited about this new school requirement and believe that students will enjoy expressing themselves with this creative assignment.
Instructions for this school-wide assignment are posted on our website under ACADEMICS. We look forward to an exciting Open House in the spring when all students will share their academic portfolios.
We have had some teacher changes in building #2.
Ms. Gabbard Ms. Gabbard, our part-time English teacher has retired and we are very sad to see her go. Congratulations to her on this new phase of her life! | Ms. Kesseru Ms. Kesseru is our new English teacher and we are so fortunate to have her! We welcome her and look forward to getting to know her! | Ms. Burroughs Ms. Burroughs, our long-time Spanish teacher has moved to Casa Grande High School. We are so sad to see her go but we are very happy for her new opportunity. Valley Oaks will not offer Spanish starting in Fall 2018. |

New Opportunities for Students!
Math 3 is now offered to students. We are very happy to announce that Ms. Abelli-Amen is now offering Math 3 to students. Previosly we offered Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. We now offer Math 1, 2, & 3. | A third year of college prep science is now offered to students. Environmental Conservation & Restoration: Students may take this course as an A-G, college prep lab science ("d"), or students may take a general ed version of this course. Students complete 50 hours of field work with local park volunteer programs doing environmental conservation and restoration activities. We are pleased to announce that the Valley Oaks School library in building #2 has been updated. Worn-out books were donated and a very large number of new reading books was purchased and inventoried. Students have already been very excited and happy with the wide selection! Happy Reading!

5 hours of Community Service Each Semester
This is an award for student community service work. Applications for this award are due to Mrs. Parker by November 6th. Win this award by filling out a very short application. $1,000.00 and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C.

September 7th, Friday: PE Group #1 group work out from 2:30 - 4
September 11th, Tuesday: 10am - 11am Garden Party! Please help us tidy-up our small garden
areas by pulling weeds and trimming back plants.
Students may earn community service hours.
September 18th, Tuesday: 10am - 11am Training on the topic of Sexual Harassment
This is a mandatory meeting for all VOS students.
September 19th, Wednesday: 10am - 11am make-up meeting for September 18th Sexual
Harassment training.
September 20th, Thursday: Back to School Night, 6pm - 7pm; Please come visit us! All staff
members will be available for parents, students, and other
interested community members to visit with us. See you then!
September 21st, Friday: PE Group #2 group work out from 2:30 - 4
