CHS Choir Update #9
A Weekly Newsletter for Friends & Family of the CHS Choir
Greetings CHS Choir Family!
It's hard to believe that we are already halfway through the second grading period of the school year. Students are growing by leaps and bounds and becoming more confident in their communication, singing, and piano skills. It is incredible and encouraging to hear and witness this type of growth in such a short amount of time.
While there is not a lot on the agenda this week, it doesn't mean there is not a great deal going on behind the scenes. Officers are fast at work preparing for our All Choir Zoom Social and we are hard at work preparing for our winter concert and solo performance opportunities during class. More information about these performance opportunities, including rehearsal dates, audience participation, and safety procedures will be shared with you over the next two weeks.
Please be sure to check out the rest of this week's newsletter to learn more about upcoming events and opportunities to become more involved in the life and mission of our program. There is a lot going on right now and we don't want you to miss a beat.
As always, please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance to you or your student in any way.
Warmest Regards,
Eric L. Cooley, director
CHS Choral Department

TMEA All-State Audition Results
We are extremely proud of all of the CHS Choir Members who prepared for and participated in Round I of the TMEA All-State Choir audition process last week. It was new and different and they embraced the challenges with grace and pride.
Of the 19 students that entered the process this year, and 12 were named to a regional level ensemble. Of these 12 singers, 5 singers from CHS will be advancing to Round II in December.
Congratulations, Spartans! Thank you for your hard work and for making music with P.R.I.D.E.
Pledge Drive Top Fundraiser Celebration
Information about logistics, date, and time of this will be sent to recipients via email later this week. Congratulations are also in order to the Varsity Treble Choir who achieved over 67% participation in this year's fundraising effort. They will receive a donut party on Tuesday during class to celebrate their efforts!
Congratulations on a job well done!
Independent Music Learning Project Update
Students have been hard at work over the past two weeks learning their solos and developing your individual singing abilities. It has been incredible to see so many of them step up to the plate and pursue this learning opportunity with confidence, both in the classroom and at home.
All project information and support materials can be found in Schoology or by clicking the links below. The next student recording submission is due on Friday, Oct. 30th. Information about registering to participate in the BISD Solo & Ensemble Festival will be released to students on Wednesday, Oct. 28th.
Parents, your support and encouragement of your student(s) during this time of independent musical growth is critical to their success. If you hear them struggling, have a conversation with them about what tools they think they need to grow. If you hear them talking down about themselves, ask them to be specific about their concerns and encourage them to ask for support in solving the problem or overcoming the challenge. If you hear them grow or being successful in overcoming a challenge be sure to let them know if a way that you believe will encourage them. Your kindness and support mean more than you could ever know.
Choir Fee Payment Deadline: Friday, Oct. 30th
Our target date to have all fee payments processed is Friday, October 30th. For those students/families that requested a payment plan for this year's fees, this is the final date listed in your payment plan. Students/families that are in need of additional time or consideration are asked to communicate this need to Mr. Cooley via email (ecooley@bisdmail.net) as soon as possible.
