Get To Know Our Staff!
Hello, My name is Yujeong Kong.
I was born in South Korea but lived most of my life in California. Before my senior year of highschool, my family moved to the Rio Grande Valley. Though California is still my hometown, Texas has been nothing but good to me.
After finishing highschool, I decided to attend University of Houston. I graduated in December 2015 with a BA in Art and a minor in Education. Currently, as an Elementary art teacher, I am doing what I love and loving what I do!
Though I love teaching now, I have not always wanted to be a teacher. I knew that I wanted to be an artist since I was little but I never imagined myself being where I am today. Fortunately, I found a part time job teaching art afterschool during college and that's when I realized that working with the imaginative minds of young kids was for me.
Besides teaching and art, I love crafting and building things on my own (I guess in other words it would be called DIY). I also love to listen to and play music. On my spare time, I am always out and about. I explore parks over weekends or try new restaurants when I can. I like to attend local events in Houston including art markets, concerts, festivals, etc. Though the busy life is fun as well, I also enjoy my lazy days with Netflix.
