Principal's Message
Hello Wildcat families,
We are just a little over a week away from the end of the first quarter. Time is flying! I'm so proud of how hard our students are working and we are seeing results. One of the things we are emphasizing to students this year is that their effort makes a difference in their performance. The more they practice something, the better they will be. This principle applies to reading, math and other academic subjects as well as to music, sports and so many aspects of life.
When you are celebrating a new accomplishment or point of pride with your child, try asking them what they did that led to their success. Did they pay attention in class? Did they study for their test? Help them make the connection between the effort they put in and their results. It makes a difference!
All the best,
Stephanie Haga

Principal's Coffee October 6
One of the important pieces of student success is being able to identify and deal with stress in a healthy and manageable way. Join us as we talk about how to build resilience and coping skills in children. We will discuss how to identify the signs of stress, awareness of adversity, and we’ll also share tips on how to cope with and manage stress.
October is Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Student safety is our highest priority. We want to create an environment where students feel safe to learn and be themselves. Our classroom lessons this month will focus on our character word of the month, kindness, as well and bullying prevention. The main goal of the lessons is to help students identify and define bullying behavior and different types of bullying. They will also learn how to be an "upstander" (standing up for themselves and others) and the differences between tattling and reporting.
Creating Character Celebration October 7th
Extra Long Weekend Coming Up
Don't forget, we will not have school on October 10, 11 or 12. Please plan accordingly. We will welcome all our students back on October 13.
September is Attendance Awareness Month
Attendance Matters – All Day, Every Day
Regular attendance is vital for student success. When students attend regularly, starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, they have an opportunity to achieve academically and thrive. Research shows that when students are chronically absent, (missing 10% or more of the school year or 18 days over an entire year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school and graduate from high school.
Did you know: Students can substitute up to 5 absences per semester (a max of 10 per year) with a remote learning day by meeting asynchronous remote learning participation criteria as defined by the teacher.
Please continue to send absence notes as soon as you can and within 3 days of absence, thank you!
