For Your Information and Action
Master Schedule Q1: Click here for the quarter 1 master schedule. There are three tabs at the bottom: teacher schedule, para schedule, and duty schedule.
Study Halls 2019-20: In an effort to give teachers additional prep and collaboration time throughout the 7 day rotation, study halls for blocks 1, 2, 3, and 6 will take place in the cafeteria instead of classrooms. Block 4 and 5 study halls will still be in classrooms. During your additional prep time, feel free to visit other classrooms, collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary lessons, etc. More on this next week!
Access to IEPs: Click here for directions on accessing students' IEPs.
COW/Calf Reservation: In the spirit of continuing to improve upon our systems, the IT Department has worked to bring a new scheduling system to our COW and Calf units.
Here are the easy steps to reserving a resource:
1. Visit https://barn.hr-k12.org and click "Sign in with Google"
2. Using the grid scheduling matrix, click on the resource and date/period you wish to reserve.
3. Confirm the details on the New Reservation screen and click "Create"
If you want to dig deep into the system, please review the help page here: https://barn.hr-k12.org/help.php
Reminders from July/August Newsletters
Paras Attending Faculty Meetings: Paras should plan on attending the following faculty meetings this year:
Sept. 3: Mandated Trainings
Oct. 29: State Police Safety Presentation
Feb. 25: Reunification Planning
Mar. 10: MCAS Training
June 9: End of Year Celebration
First Day of School Lesson: What is the most engaging and exciting lesson you teach all year? Our challenge to you is to teach this lesson on the first day of school this year! Avoid your syllabus, class expectations, and typical first day of school stuff--get students excited come back to school on the second day. This is a short article I came across, written by an ELA teacher about how she structures the first few days of school in her classroom.
Where's Waldo? Halloween is right around the corner! Seniors get to wear their costumes to school on Halloween, but why should they have all the fun? Students and staff will be encouraged to come to school wearing Where's Waldo attire on Halloween this year! If you don't have Where's Waldo attire (see photo below), just wear jeans and a red or white shirt so you can still get in on the fun. We will take a photo in the gym for anyone who dresses up in the Where's Waldo theme!
Advisory:
- Please bookmark the Advisory Calendar for this year.
- Everyone will have an "Advisory Partner" this year to simplify advisory coverage when teachers are out. Let your advisory know who your advisory partner is so that students can go to that classroom when you are out. If both partners are out, Sue will assign coverage.
College Signs on Doors: As we work towards our goal of preparing students for college and the workforce, we still want to include college/universities that staff attended on their classroom doors. Since there were some moves and new hires, please contact Sue if you need a new college sign.
Staff Photos on Website & Email: The PTSO has given feedback to administration about ways to improve communication between the school and the family for this upcoming school year. One request was to have all staff upload their photos to the school website and to their google account so they can put a face to the names of their children's teachers. By the end of the day on Wednesday, August 28, please upload a photo of yourself to the website and to your google account.
