Keep Skills Sharp in Math, Reading, and Writing

Want to keep your skills sharp over the summer? “Keep It Up” is a skills-based program designed to maintain critical skills in reading, writing, and math for students in rising Grades 5-6. It is a valuable opportunity for students who need to hold onto skills over the summer. While this program is perfect for the student new to Flint Hill School to make the transition easier in the fall, all are welcome.

A Few Teacher Notes About the Math Portion of this Keep It Up Camp

I begin the Keep It Up math program with a pre-assessment to determine where each student is in terms of the math skills listed below. Based on this assessment, the daily lessons are differentiated. Concepts that students are not secure in are practiced. Remediation is provided as well as enrichment where such is determined necessary. Manipulatives are used to ensure conceptual understanding, and math websites such as https://www.khanacademy.org/ are also visited.
