A Message from Mrs. Macleod

We are excited to share our 2020-2021 school schedules.

Recently our school’s Leadership Team had the opportunity to collaborate regarding our virtual bell schedule for the fall. We carefully considered student social emotional and academic needs, stakeholder input and the impact of COVID-19 on our school community.

As you may know, the school year will begin for students on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. Our school hours will continue to be 8:45 to 3:15. Students will attend school on-line Monday through Friday with Wednesday mornings reserved for targeted student intervention, asynchronous (anytime) instruction, and special area classes. On Wednesday afternoons, teachers will participate in individual and collaborative planning, and professional learning, while students have time for independent asynchronous learning.

Copies of the 2020-2021 schedules can be found below. As you will see, depending on the grade level, the schedules include between 2-3.5 hours of live, daily instruction with their classroom teacher. Live instruction via Google Meet will be provided in the areas of English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. Additionally, throughout the day students will have opportunities to participate in morning meetings, small group instruction, special area classes, independent learning time, and movement breaks. In the middle of each day all students will have an hour break to enjoy lunch and playtime with their family or caregiver.

The posted schedules reflect approximate times for various subject areas. In some cases the English language arts and mathematics blocks may be flipped (AM vs PM) for some classes. However, the starting and ending times will remain the same. Prior to the start of the year, classroom teachers will post their schedules in Schoology. These schedules will show the special area class for each day, the exact order of classes and times for small group instruction.

Starting in the fall, teachers will take student attendance daily and will adhere to traditional grading and reporting procedures as outlined in the BCPS Grading and Reporting Procedures Manual.

Our ultimate goal is to work together to support our students, families and staff during these challenging times. Please continue to provide ongoing feedback to teachers, counselors and school administrators about your student’s experience and needs throughout the first semester.

For more information, please view the BCPS Reopening Plan.

Again, we are looking forward to seeing everyone one soon – virtually for now.

Weeks with less than 5 School Days

If a week has less than 5 school days, Wednesdays will become a live instruction day and students will follow a full day schedule. In order to maximize instructional time during virtual instruction, any calendar week with fewer than five (5) school days will follow the schedule for instruction as outlined on a typical Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.
