UIL Cheer
The WHS UIL Competition Cheer Team competed last weekend at the Grapevine Invitational where they won 2nd place in the 6A division. They attended the UIL State Cheerleading Championship and competed against 125 6A teams. Overall the team finished 45th in the State and earned 11th place out of all 125 teams in the band dance category!
Criminal Justice Club
Colton Dees took 2nd place in Traffic Stop.
Kalynn Alexander took 2nd place in female obstacle course and 1st place in closing argument.
Power Lifting
Braden Robertson was the best overall Heavy weight lifter!
1st Place: Peyton Hetrick, Braden Robertson, &Jake Beaird 2nd Place: Gabe Flores, River Hall, & Ethan Meese .
3rd Place: Saul Sanchez, Elijah Dean, & Reynaldo Valenzuela
The team placed 1st overall!

2017-2018 Registration has begun!
The counselors are currently meeting with students and assisting with the completion of 4-year plans, including course requests for next year.
Current Juniors began making course selections last week during their English classes and should have requests “Submitted” by Friday, Jan. 20th.
Current Sophomores will begin course selections on Tuesday, Jan. 17th during their Social Studies classes and will need to have requests “Submitted” by Friday, Jan. 27th.

Blue Belle Captain to Perform at Inaugural Ball
Sophie Pasternak, the Blue Belles Captain, will perform at The Texas State Society's Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C. later this month.
Texas Dance Educator’s Association is proud to announce the invitation from the Texas State Society to perform at the Black Tie and Boots Inaugural Gala in Washington D.C. on January 19th, 2017. Guests include Texas state officials, dignitaries, and thousands of guests from all over the United States.
Only 25 All-State members will be performing at this prestigious event. The directors for the Blue Belles are Laura Buckner & Adriana Wood.

Attention Seniors – Scholarship season is here! Did you know that last year’s senior class was awarded over $3.5 million dollars in scholarships? Let’s make this year the best year ever for scholarship awards. Many scholarships have deadlines coming up right away. Scholarships are available for all students who have a desire to attend college. Go to the Counseling Office often to get the latest information on scholarships and pick up applications.

WC Foundation opens new scholarship application system
The Weatherford College Foundation has opened its online scholarship application for the 2017-18 academic year, utilizing a new platform designed to simplify the process for students and donors alike.
Students will begin at www.wc.edu/scholarships, using their existing “MyWC” login credentials to enter the system. Students must have completed the overall WC application to apply for scholarships.
The deadline to apply is March 24th, 2017. The scholarships will begin in the fall 2017 semester, and many awards will renew for spring 2018, pending fall GPAs.
