Hoosier Girls State

American Legion Auxiliary Hoosier Girls State is a program designed to educate young women of Indiana in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship. It is a week of living and learning the political system of Indiana through a mythical city, county, and state. Girls must be able to attend the week of June 19-25. Any interested Junior girl may pick up an application for Hoosier Girls State in the guidance office! Due March 1, 2022.

Senior Scholarship Info:

1. The Sibyl and T. Herman Davis Scholarships were established as four-year scholarships for students from Southmont High School or home-schooled students who reside in the South Montgomery Community School District.

You can stop by the Guidance Office to pick up an application. Application and all materials must be received by the Wabash College Financial Aid Office on or before 3:00 p.m. on December 4, 2020 by uploading documents to

2. Montgomery County Commissioners Scholarship-For any Senior attending Wabash in the Fall 2022. Applications are due to the Wabash Financial Aid Office by December 3.

3. Knights of Pythias- A minimum of 12 scholarships will be given to Seniors from around the state in the amount of $1,000. Applications are due by mail by January 25th.

4. Montgomery County Community Foundation- Applications are online at and are due by January 14th at 5:00pm.

We will be posting more scholarships on the Senior Google Classroom page and Announcements as they become available. Students may also pick up paper copies in the Guidance Office.

Instruction on Child Abuse and Child Sexual Abuse

The State of Indiana requires that no later than December 15th of each school year that each public school shall provide age appropriate, research and evidence-based instruction on child abuse and child sexual abuse to students in kindergarten through grade 12. At SHS, students will be watching personal safety videos during Homeroom next week on Monday from the website If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Feese or Mr. Acton.

Please contact the Indiana Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-800-5556 to report suspected child abuse or neglect.

The FAFSA is now open!

For students planning to attend a college or university next year, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) allows students to apply for more than $150 billion in grants, loans, and work-study funds.
