Message from our Principal
Sailor Families,
November is starting out with fantastic weather and a lot to celebrate. Thank you for your partnership in last week’s Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences. Our turnout was exceptional and the leadership shown by our students was top-notch. We should all be very proud! This is a huge step in our students owning their learning. Below are some updates you will find timely:
Fall Fest
I am very excited about this year’s Fall Fest on November 12th from 11-3pm! Much appreciation to Kelsey Warren and all involved in the planning for our only fundraiser of the year. You can’t have a fundraiser without the word FUN, so we are definitely looking forward to that. ALL of the money raised will go directly back to supporting our students and staff and Bay Harbor as a whole. Thank you for all of your support and donations already! The classroom baskets are going to be a huge success because of you. Silent auctions (a chance to be Principal for half a day), meat raffle, and more!!! PLEASE see the information below in the newsletter for links to volunteer and food donations.
End of the First Quarter
On Friday, November 4th marks the end of our 1st quarter of school. Like we know about football, it takes 4 quarters to win a game and in learning, it takes ALL 4 quarters to secure the skills necessary to progress to the next level. Each standard that will be reported on is written as a skill that should be secure by the end of the year and rarely by the end of the 1st quarter. A message will come out on the 11th at 6:00pm with directions how to access the report card.
Apparel
You asked and we listened! Watch for upcoming communication about NEW Bay Harbor apparel sales! There will be some pretty cool stuff and will be here in time for Christmas once ordered.
Have a wonderful rest of the week!
Tony Ebeling, Bay Harbor Principal

Message From Our School Psychologist:
Attention 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade Parents/Guardians:
Your student will have an opportunity to increase their awareness of their social and emotional behaviors through completing a social, academic and behavior screener. The screener, mySAEBRS, will ask students a total of 21 questions and will be completed in under 10 minutes. The student’s teacher will also complete a similar screener based on their observations of the students. This optional screener will allow school staff to identify universal and targeted areas for growth focused on students being able to regulate their emotions, develop positive relationships and make positive decisions. This will be done two times a year in years to come.
Feel free to contact Bay Harbor's School Psychologist, Sydnee Milis, with any questions or for more information. If you would like to opt your child out of the screening process please complete this opt out form by November 4th.

WANT TO BE A VOLUNTEER AT SCHOOL?
HOW TO BECOME APPROVED TO VOLUNTEER AT SCHOOL
Anyone who wants to volunteer in the Howard Suamico School District must first complete a background check through the district to get approved to volunteer. This includes, but is not limited to, chaperoning on a field trip, helping in the classroom, or helping at one of the PTO Family Fun or other school events.
Please keep in mind that background checks can take as long as three to four weeks to process. ~GIVING TREE LETTER~
The Giving Tree depends on our schools for food drives. Typically each month we partner with a school who hosts a food drive. In addition to Howard Elementary’s school food drive for November, Bay Port’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) wanted to further support our students and families during the Thanksgiving holiday. If you are looking for a little something extra to give in the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, FBLA would appreciate your support.
This month FBLA is collecting a variety of food items for The Giving Tree that help make long breaks without school breakfast and lunch easier for students and families in need. Please feel free to send donations with your students to put in the collections bins/carts near the main office of school. Items can also be dropped off during school hours. The Giving Tree appreciates the community support in helping FBLA ensure food is not a barrier when students are not in school.
