Need: Student Volunteers
Dates/Times: Setup – February 21, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Event – February 22, 7:30 am – 3:00 pm (several timeslots available)
Sample tasks: Runners, hall helpers, registration helpers, etc
Attire: Academy or School Spirit Shirt with jeans or khakis (no rips or tears) and comfortable shoes

Bank of America Summer Internship
This wonderful opportunity with any 11th or 12th grade students making an impact on their community.
Through Student Leaders®, Bank of America recognizes high school students (juniors and seniors) who lead and serve in their own communities and beyond. We connect Student Leaders to tools and resources to help make communities better.
As a Student Leader, they will:
• Work as a paid intern at a local nonprofit for eight weeks
• Attend the week-long Student Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C.
• Develop leadership and career skills
• Connect with like-minded students from your own community and across the country
Applications will be accepted from Nov. 4th through January 31st, 2020.
Academic WorldQuest 2020
We’re so excited that Academic WorldQuest is only 4 weeks away. We hope that you and your students are using the study guide to help prepare for this friendly competition for a spot to compete in the National Academic WorldQuest in Washington D.C. in April 2020. The spots for Academic WorldQuest are quickly filling up, so be sure to sign up your team(s) for FREE soon! All Greater Houston schools are invited to send teams of 4 students to Academic WorldQuest (AWQ) for a fun and fast-paced way to test knowledge of international affairs! Each school may register up to four teams of 4 students to compete. The competition will be on February 6th 2020, from 4:30-7:30 PM. The winning team sends four students and one teacher to the National World Affairs Councils of America competition in Washington, DC in April 2020! The Council will pay the costs of airfare, hotel, and most meals for the winning team.

Summer Program for High School Seniors - UT MD Anderson School of Health Professions
The School of Health Professions at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center would like to announce that applications open soon for the 60th Annual Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation High School Summer Program in Biomedical Sciences June 8 – July 24, 2020. Applications available Nov. 1, 2019 – Jan. 16, 2020.
Attached is our informational flyer for potential applicants to the program (current seniors in a Texas public, private, charter, or home school graduating prior to the start of the program). For more information visit our web page (http://bit.ly/SHP-HS-Summer) or contact me directly. In short, we will select 10 students and pair each to mentor under an MD Anderson faculty member. The participants will work during normal business hours in their mentor’s laboratory working on research.
Students will receive a scholarship to help defray expenses during the program. The program does not provide for housing, parking, transportation, food, or otherwise.
No new applications will be taken after January 16. We hope to choose the students by early March.
