Mission Statement

St. Maria Goretti is a living testament to our Lord's work in His youngest disciples, exemplified by academic excellence, spiritual formation, and compassionate service to others.

St. Maria Goretti Catholic School aims to form what is True, Good, and Beautiful in the souls of our young disciples of Christ.

Principal's Message

Dear St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,

Be sure to visit our updated website for all things SMGCS. www.smgschool.org

Friday, September 8th, is Mother Mary's Birthday! You are invited to join the school at 7:50 AM to pray a rosary. Parents will need to drop off their child in Carline and then park and check in at the front office. We will do rainy-day drop off to ensure plenty of parking for parents who would like to join us. We will celebrate Mary at lunch with a sweet treat: a blueberry shortcake! The angel food cake represents the angels that hold Mary up, the whipped cream for the clouds upon which she was assumed into heaven, and the blueberries for Marion Blue! See the invitation below if you want to come and help assemble the desserts at lunch or make a donation of items. Pray for us, Mary!

Please remember that we will begin billing our school fees starting in September. We have moved the date to collect the school supply fee to September 15, 2023. You should have received an email about that on September 1, 2023.

The 8th grade will be taking the Classical Learning Test on September 12-13, 2023. The week of September 18-22, 2023, students in grades 3rd-7th will be taking the IOWA and COGAT tests. This week, we will also be teaching the Protecting God's Children's Lessons to students in PreK-8th grades. Teachers will be sending home a letter next week for those who choose to opt out of these classes. Please be on the lookout for that.

Thank you for sending healthy snacks for your child for the morning break. I love seeing all the fruits and veggies they are eating. Contine to send your child(ren) with water every day. Thank you for your partnership.

We will also continue to do in-door pick-up all week. Please make sure that you bring your orange cards with you every day. I have received feedback from parents and teachers that they are interested in having indoor pickup all school year. Please take a moment to complete the attached survey so I can gain your insight. https://forms.office.com/r/PQF1AAJPQT

The school will be closed on Monday in honor of Labor Day. Classes resume Tuesday morning.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children's spiritual and academic formation.

St. Maria Goretti, Pray for Us!

Blessings,

Amy Utendorf, M.Ed.

The First Home and School Meeting

Mark your calendar for the first Home and School Meeting on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. One parent should plan to attend. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM, and child care will be provided.

Your participation in the parent-led organization is so important. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents and learn how you can support your school.

We will have lots of great information about the Kountry Karnival, the yearbook, the upcoming plant sale, changes in the SCRIP program, and much more!

Parents earn a spirit hour for attending, and your child earns a blue jeans and tennis shoe dress-down day on Friday, September 22, 2023.
