Brooke Holcomb, School Counselor
Andover Caring and Sharing is a nonprofit organization that started over twenty years ago. Volunteers from local organizations, churches, and businesses continue the tradition of helping to provide age-appropriate gifts, warm clothing items, books, gifts, and gift cards to children, teenagers, and seniors in our community. Families will receive food boxes containing ingredients for a holiday dinner, including a turkey. The families will be invited to pick up their gift and food boxes on Monday, December 18 at the Andover Fire Department. The Andover Fire and Police Departments will deliver gift and food baskets if transportation is unavailable.
Please fill out the following form if you are interested in this holiday support.
If you have any questions contact Brooke Holcomb at holcombb@usd385.org or 316-218-4630 ext. 2.
HOLIDAY GIVING
Tis the season for giving, and Meadowlark Elementary has a long tradition of giving to those less fortunate during the winter holiday season. Over the past 25 years, we have raised nearly $40,000 and have helped over 150 Meadowlark families. Last year alone, we raised $3,039.01 which helped 8 Meadowlark families, the Andover Sunshine Children's Home , and the Wichita Children's Home!
The goal for our Holiday Giving Campaign for 2023 is to raise at least $2,500. At the end of the campaign, Mrs. Matheny will treat the whole school to a Pajama and Cookie Day!!
Below you will find a template of a holiday wreath color sheet. Print as many copies as you want, decorate/color the wreath, write a name on the sheet, and return it to school along with at least $1 (any amount over a dollar will be happily and graciously accepted, too!). The whole family can join in the fun by coloring a holiday wreath for every member of the family!
While coloring your wreath, talk to your children about the spirit of giving. You might consider having them do extra jobs to earn money to donate, have them use a portion of their allowance money, or send them on a "Loose Change Hunt" around the house and in your vehicles.
If you know of a local business or corporation that might be willing to support our Holiday Giving Campaign, please contact them. Ask them to make a donation in your child's name.
All wreath color sheets and money need to be collected by Friday, Dec. 11th.
Thank you all in advance for your generosity and caring. I feel truly blessed to be a part of this wonderful Meadowlark community. May you and yours have a blessed and joyous holiday season.
Blessing,
Dana Matheny
