Frequently Asked Questions:
What do we do if we do not have an exam (for example, those students in basketball , study hall, etc.)?
- Basketball players need to get instructions from their coaches. You may have a practice during that exam period.
- Study Halls will continue as scheduled, but your parents may choose to check you out. Parents will need to check their children out through the high school office. If you would like to stay at school and use the study hall to prepare for another exam, you will simply go to your study hall during that exam period.
- If checking out, you must stop by the office and sign out. If you come in late, you must stop by the office and sign in.
- If you have any questions about what to do, please check with the office.
Can we check out as soon as we finish our exam?
- Students will stay in the classroom the entire testing period.
- The intercom and students in the hall will disrupt students working on their exams, so you cannot checkout during a testing period.
- Students are advised to bring something to read or other study materials in case they finish an exam early.
What do we do between exams?
- Students will report to the cafeteria for the 30 minute break.
- Students are welcome to bring a snack to eat or drink during the break, or you may purchase items from the Cyber Cafe during its operating hours.
- If students want a QUIET study area, you are welcome to stay in the library.
What do I do if I am sick on the day of the exam?
- Like anytime you are sick, your parents need to call the high school office to let us know you are out sick.
- You or your parents will need to contact the teacher of the exam(s) you miss and set up a time for you to take the exam.
Do we come to school on Friday, December 20th?
- You will not be at school on Friday unless you have scheduled an appointment with a teacher to take an exam missed on a previous exam day.
Study Tips
from testpremier.com/8-tips-for-studying-for-exams/
- Chunk, Don’t Cram: We relearn info every time we revisit it. Group your study notes into sections to avoid overload.
- Start Early: Start studying several days before the exam. Cramming the night before will only increase your stress.
- Stay Positive: It is within you to do well if you work hard and put in the effort. You can do it.
- Set Priorities: Spend the most time on what is most important for the exam. If you don’t know what’s most important, ask your teacher.
- Make Study Sheets or Cue Cards: Try to summarize main ideas in a few points. Use sheets, cue cards or highlighted notes to draw your own attention to the key words or ideas.
- Go To The Review Day, Find Out About The Exam: Avoid being absent or tardy! Attend all your classes, including the review day, pay attention and take as many note as you can. Ask questions if you have them. Be sure to know what materials and supplies you can bring and use during the exams.
- Minimize Distractions: Yes, you want to check your texts and social media, but the more time you do that, the less time you’ll have to study. If you use your device to study, focus on that only. Close other apps/programs and set time aside for study
- Get Help: Ask your teacher to explain any materials that you don’t understand. Classmates can also help. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
